Job Specification: Technical Facilities Assistant\n Location: Coventry (site-based)\n Salary: £35,000 - £45,000\n Reports to: Asset Manager\n The Company\n Our client is a leading organisation within the facilities and estates sector, committed to delivering safe, reliable, and efficient property and asset management services. With a strong emphasis on compliance, technical excellence, and stakeholder satisfaction, they provide critical support services to healthcare and specialist environments.\n The Role\n We are seeking a Technical Facilities Assistant with a strong Mechanical or Electrical background to support the Asset Manager in the delivery of hard facilities management services across a busy healthcare site in Coventry.\n This role will be responsible for monitoring contractor performance, reviewing technical works, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and assisting with the day-to-day management of building services. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in hospital or healthcare facilities, where safety, reliability, and compliance are paramount.\n Key Responsibilities\n \nSupport the Asset Manager in the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across the site.
\nReview contractor performance, ensuring all works are delivered to specification, on time, and in line with statutory and contractual obligations. \nConduct regular site inspections of M&E systems and infrastructure, raising and following up on remedial actions. \nAssist in reviewing contractor documentation including RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements), PPM schedules, and compliance records.
\nMonitor building systems performance (Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, medical gases, and critical services) and escalate issues where necessary. \nProvide technical input into asset lifecycle planning, condition surveys, and project works. \nSupport health & safety compliance across the estate, reporting incidents, near misses, and ensuring best practice is followed.
\nLiaise with contractors, clinical staff, and the wider facilities team to minimise disruption to hospital operations. \nMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities, asset registers, and statutory compliance. Candidate Profile\n \nTechnical background: Qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (apprenticeship, ONC/HNC, or equivalent experience).
\nExperience within a hospital, healthcare, or similarly critical environment (e.g., data centres, laboratories) highly desirable. \nFamiliar with M&E systems such as HVAC, electrical distribution, medical gases, water systems, and building management systems (BMS). \nStrong knowledge of compliance, statutory maintenance, and health & safety in a healthcare setting.
\nAbility to review technical documentation and challenge contractor performance. \nExcellent communication skills, able to liaise with technical and non-technical stakeholders. \nProactive, detail-oriented, and able to prioritise tasks in a busy live environment.
