Job DescriptionJob Description
Key Responsibilities
• Perform OTDR testing at required wavelengths for single-mode and MME/MMF fiber to verify fiber integrity, splice quality, reflectance, and overall link performance.
• Conduct light source and power meter (OLTS) testing on MME/MMF, MPO, MTP, and MMP fiber links to measure insertion loss and confirm compliance with project thresholds.
• Test and certify high-density MPO/MTP/MMP fiber trunks, including polarity verification (Type A/B/C) and continuity validation.
• Execute re-burn activities, including re-testing and validation of corrective actions on failed or marginal MME/MMF and MPO/MTP links to achieve final acceptance.
• Analyze OTDR traces and document events such as splices, connectors, macrobends, microbends, reflectance issues, and fiber breaks.
• Verify fiber continuity, strand mapping, and polarity using appropriate test equipment and adapters.
• Inspect and validate single-fiber and MPO/MTP/MMP end faces, coordinating remediation when contamination or connector defects are identified.
• Prepare and submit detailed test reports, including OTDR trace files, IL/ORL results, polarity results, and pass/fail summaries.
• Work closely with splicing, construction, and data center teams to resolve issues identified during testing and reburn activities.
• Ensure all testing complies with customer specifications, TIA/BICSI standards, manufacturer guidelines, and safety requirements.
• Label, organize, and maintain test equipment, launch and receive fibers, MPO trunks, and documentation.
• Support field and data center teams during turn-up, commissioning, and final acceptance phases.
Qualifications
• 2–5 years of experience in fiber optic testing within OSP, ISP, or data center environments.
• Hands-on experience testing MME/MMF, single-mode, MPO, MTP, and MMP fiber systems.
• Proficiency with OTDR equipment (EXFO, Viavi, AFL, etc.) and light source/power meter tools.
• Strong understanding of fiber types, splice enclosures, MPO/MTP/MMP connectors, and OSP/ISP installation practices.
• Proven ability to interpret OTDR traces and accurately diagnose fiber issues.
• Familiarity with re-burn testing workflows, acceptance thresholds, and client sign-off processes.
• Strong documentation, reporting, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work in field and data center environments.
• Certifications such as FOA CFOT, CFOS/T, BICSI TECH, or vendor-specific training are a plus.
Skills
• Experience with high-count ribbon fiber (1728–6912+).
• Hands-on testing of high-density MPO/MTP/MMP data center trunks supporting 100G/400G/800G networks.
• Knowledge of data center fiber infrastructure, structured cabling, and hyperscale standards.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple testing and reburn assignments.
• Strong communication skills for coordination with construction, splicing, QA, and client teams.
