Position Summary
\n
\n
The Field Service Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading the safety culture across Virginia Transformer's Field Service organization.
\n
This role partners closely with Field Service Operations, Engineering, Project Management, and customers to ensure all installation, commissioning, maintenance, testing, repair, and emergency response activities are executed safely and in compliance with OSHA regulations, utility requirements, and company standards.
\n
The ideal candidate is a hands-on safety leader with experience supporting high-voltage electrical work, transformer services, substations, utilities, and industrial construction environments.

Responsibilities
\n
Field Safety Leadership
\n
• Lead the safety strategy for all Field Service operations throughout North America.
\n
• Promote a proactive safety culture focused on zero injuries.
\n
• Coach, mentor, and support field employees on safe work practices.
\n
• Conduct field safety observations and audits.
\n
• Develop corrective action plans and ensure timely closure.
\n
\n
Regulatory Compliance
\n
• Ensure compliance with:
\n
o OSHA regulations
\n
o NFPA 70E
\n
o IEEE standards
\n
o Utility safety requirements
\n
o Environmental regulations
\n
o Customer-specific safety requirements
\n
• Maintain EHS documentation and reporting.
\n
• Monitor regulatory changes and implement updates.
\n
\n
Field Risk Management
\n
• Lead Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
\n
• Review project-specific safety plans.
\n
• Participate in pre-job planning meetings.
\n
• Evaluate high-risk activities including:
\n
o Transformer installation
\n
o Heavy lifting
\n
o Rigging
\n
o High-voltage testing
\n
o Confined space entry
\n
o Hot work
\n
o Oil processing
\n
o Energization
\n
• Develop mitigation strategies.
\n
\n
Incident Investigation
\n
• Investigate safety incidents and near misses.
\n
• Conduct root cause analysis.
\n
• Develop corrective and preventive actions.
\n
• Track safety metrics and trends.
\n
• Prepare executive safety reports.
\n
\n
Training & Development
\n
• Develop and deliver Field Service safety training.
\n
• Ensure field personnel maintain required certifications.
\n
• Conduct toolbox talks.
\n
• Lead annual safety refreshers.
\n
• Support contractor safety .
\n
\n
Environmental Compliance
\n
• Support environmental compliance during field activities.
\n
• Oversee spill prevention and response.
\n
• Ensure proper handling of transformer oil and hazardous materials.
\n
• Monitor waste disposal practices.
\n
• Support sustainability initiatives.
\n
\n
Customer Support
\n
• Participate in customer safety meetings.
\n
• Represent Virginia Transformer during customer audits.
\n
• Ensure customer safety requirements are satisfied.
\n
• Partner with utilities, EPC contractors, industrial customers, and data center clients.
\n
\n
Continuous Improvement
\n
• Analyze safety performance data.
\n
• Develop KPI dashboards.
\n
• Implement best practices across Field Service.
\n
• Standardize safety procedures throughout North America.
\n
\n
\n
Education
\n
Bachelor's degree in:
\n
• Occupational Safety
\n
• Environmental Health & Safety
\n
• Industrial Hygiene
\n
• Engineering
\n
• Environmental Science
\n
Equivalent experience considered.
\n
\n
Experience
\n
• 7–10+ years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience.
\n
• Experience supporting Field Service or Construction operations.
\n
• Experience within one or more of the following:
\n
o Power transformers
\n
o Utilities
\n
o High-voltage electrical systems
\n
o Substations
\n
o Electrical contractors
\n
o EPC firms
\n
o Power
\n
o Heavy industrial manufacturing

Qualifications

• OSHA 30 Certification

• CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
