A privately held manufacturer of custom power distribution equipment for the data center industry is hiring its first EHS/Safety Manager. The company builds engineered-to-order PDUs, RPPs, and STS, running fabrication, electrical assembly, and test in-house. It is growing quickly and opening a newly acquired second facility over the next year.

In most safety jobs you're running a program someone else wrote. Here you're the one writing it! There's no formal safety program in place today, so you'll have the opportunity to decide how it's structured, write the standards, develop and run the training, and set the tone with the workforce. Headcount is climbing fast, and what you build now is what the company will run on as it scales. You'll report to the COO.

What you'll own

Program and culture
\n
- \n
- Build the safety program from the ground up: policies, procedures, work instructions, and training structure
- Launch a behavior-based safety program, including the incentives that get people on the floor participating
- Stand up safety committees and autonomous work groups so operators share ownership day to day
- Coach supervisors and managers on their safety accountability
- Maintain daily visibility on the floor, engaging employees directly on hazards and concerns
- Set annual safety objectives and measurable performance goals

Training and certification
\n

- New hire safety and job-specific training
- Forklift and material handling certification
- Lockout/tagout training for authorized and affected employees
- Electrical safety and NFPA 70E awareness training
- PPE, hazard communication, machine guarding, and emergency response
- Training records, completion tracking, and effectiveness review

Compliance and risk
\n
- \n
- OSHA compliance, the OSHA 300 log, and regulatory reporting
- Hazard assessments, JSAs, and safe work procedures, including acting on the risk assessment the company is completing now
- Incident investigation and root cause analysis, with corrective actions tracked to closure
- Electrical safety program oversight, including arc flash, PPE requirements, and energized work procedures
- Contractor safety requirements and site
- Facility inspections and safety audits

Workers' compensation
\n
- \n
- Claims management alongside HR
- Return-to-work and transitional duty coordination
- Trend analysis and prevention initiatives to reduce claim frequency and severity

\n
Metrics and reporting
\n

- Establish and report the safety metrics leadership runs on, including recordable incident rate, lost time rate, near misses, training completion, and corrective action closure
\n

\n
What we're looking for
\n
- \n
- You've built a safety program from scratch before and can walk through how you did it
- Real experience implementing behavior-based safety
- 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing
- OSHA 30-Hour General Industry
- Strong command of OSHA compliance, LOTO, machine guarding, PPE, and hazard communication
- Someone who spends the day on the floor training and working with employees
- You've been through an OSHA inspection and can talk openly about it

Nice to have
\n

- NFPA 70E or other electrical safety experience
- First Aid/CPR/AED instructor certification, or experience building first responder teams
- Certified Industrial Hygienist, OHST, or similar EHS certification
- Background in electrical equipment, metal fabrication, or data center infrastructure

Working conditions
\n
Office and manufacturing environment with regular presence on the production floor.
\n
\n
Compensation
\n
Base pay is targeted at $90,000 – $110,000 depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.
