POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Service Technician is a critical front-line role responsible for delivering exceptional preventative and corrective fuel maintenance services at customer sites across a defined service territory. This individual will perform fuel polishing, filtration, water removal, sampling, ASTM testing, additive treatments, and tank/ATG inspections in accordance with company standards and industry best practices. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, self-motivated, safety-conscious, and comfortable working independently in a variety of field environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fuel Polishing & Filtration

•       Operate mobile fuel polishing and filtration equipment for diesel, gasoline, kerosene, and aviation fuels

•       Execute phase separation and water removal procedures to restore fuel to specification

•       Perform fuel remediation services including microbial contamination treatment and tank cleaning

•       Apply fuel additives in accordance with dosing specifications and customer requirements

ASTM Lab Testing & Quality Assurance

•       Collect fuel samples following proper chain-of-custody and ASTM sampling protocols

•       Conduct on-site ASTM field tests and document results accurately

•       Coordinate with the in-house laboratory for full ASTM analysis and reporting

•       Interpret test results and communicate findings and recommendations to customers and management

Tank & ATG Maintenance

•       Perform scheduled and emergency inspections, maintenance, and repairs on above-ground and underground storage tanks

•       Inspect, test, calibrate, and troubleshoot ATG systems (Veeder-Root, Franklin Fueling, OPW, and similar)

•       Identify and report compliance issues, leaks, corrosion, structural deficiencies, and equipment failures

•       Coordinate with customers and regulatory contacts to ensure tank system compliance

Documentation & Reporting

•       Complete all service reports, work orders, and field documentation accurately and in a timely manner

•       Maintain detailed records of fuel condition, equipment readings, additive usage, and service activities

•       Use company-provided mobile apps or software platforms to log service data in real time

•       Provide clear written summaries and recommendations to customers post-service

Safety & Compliance

•       Adhere strictly to all company, OSHA, EPA, and site-specific safety policies and procedures

•       Maintain a clean, organized, and DOT-compliant service vehicle at all times

•       Wear appropriate PPE for all fuel handling, chemical, and confined space activities

•       Participate in ongoing safety training, hazmat awareness, and compliance education

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

•       High school diploma or GED; technical/vocational training or military service a plus

•       1–3 years of experience in fuel system maintenance, industrial equipment service, fleet maintenance, or a closely related trade

•       Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL or willingness to obtain

•       Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to operate pumps, filtration systems, and related equipment

•       Ability to read and interpret gauges, meters, and technical documentation

•       Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and professional customer-facing demeanor

•       Comfortable working outdoors, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions

•       Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods

•       Experience with ATG systems (Veeder-Root TLS-450, Franklin TS-550, OPW SiteSentinel, or similar)

•       Knowledge of ASTM fuel testing standards (D975, D1655, D4814, etc.)

•       Familiarity with EPA UST regulations and state environmental compliance requirements

•       Prior experience in mission critical (data center, hospital, generator), C-store, or petroleum service environments

•       NFPA, OSHA 10/30, or hazardous materials certifications

•       EPA 608 or other relevant environmental/fuel handling certifications

WORK CONDITIONS

This is a field-based position requiring daily travel within an assigned service territory. Occasional overnight travel and on-call availability may be required. Work is performed at customer sites including fuel farms, convenience stores, hospitals, data centers, military installations, and commercial facilities. Exposure to fuel vapors, chemicals, and outdoor conditions is inherent to the role. All work is performed in compliance with applicable safety and environmental regulations.
