Role Overview:\n
\nThe Health & Safety Advisor will provide professional, practical and proactive health and safety support to the company’s management, project teams, supervisors and site operatives.\n
\nThe successful candidate will be a visible presence on projects, working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, subcontractors and clients to identify risks, implement effective controls and promote a positive safety culture.\n

Key Responsibilities\n
\n

  • Provide competent health and safety advice to company’s management and project teams.

    • \n

  • Monitor compliance with relevant UK health and safety legislation and industry best practice.

    • \n

  • Assist project teams in identifying significant risks and implementing suitable control measures.

    • \n

  • Promote a proactive approach to health, safety and wellbeing across the business.

    • \n

  • Carry out regular site inspections across projects

    • \n

  • Identify unsafe conditions, behaviours and potential areas of improvement.

    • \n

  • Monitor standards of housekeeping, access/egress, welfare, PPE, signage and general site safety.

    • \n

\n

  • Review and provide advice on Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).

    • \n

  • Assist project teams with the development of suitable safe systems of work.

    • \n

  • Ensure RAMS are appropriate to the work activity and communicated effectively to those undertaking the work.

    • \n

  • Pay particular attention to high-risk activities associated with electrical and mechanical installation.

    • \n

  • Support the review of RAMS when site conditions, design or working methods change.

    • \n

  • Ensure relevant health and safety information is communicated to company’s employees and subcontractors.

    • \n

\n

  • Deliver and support site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.

    • \n

  • Develop and deliver training on relevant health and safety topics.

    • \n

  • Engage directly with operatives and supervisors to encourage positive safety behaviours.

    • \n

\n

  • Maintain accurate health and safety records.

    • \n

  • Assist with maintaining the company's health and safety documentation.

    • \n

  • Support internal and external audits, including client and certification audits.

    • \n

Specification:\n
Essential\n
\n

    \n
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent recognised health and safety qualification.

    • \n

  • Demonstrable experience in a construction, MEP, electrical or engineering environment.

    • \n

  • Good working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.

    • \n

  • Experience reviewing RAMS and safe systems of work.

    • \n

  • Experience investigating accidents, incidents and near misses.

    • \n

  • Strong understanding of construction site risks.

    • \n

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • \n

  • Ability to work confidently with site operatives, supervisors, managers, subcontractors and clients.

    • \n

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between project sites.

    • \n

Desirable\n
\n

    \n
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate.

    • \n

  • NEBOSH Environmental Certificate.

    • \n

  • NCRQ or equivalent health and safety qualification.

    • \n

  • IOSH membership at TechIOSH/GradIOSH level or above.

    • \n

  • SMSTS or knowledge of site management practices.

    • \n

  • Experience with ISO 45001 management systems.

    • \n

  • Experience with ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001.

    • \n
