Project Engineer supports commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout in the Kansas City, MO metro. This role partners with project managers, superintendents, and field crews to coordinate submittals, equipment procurement, and on-site installation of HVAC systems. Scope spans office, healthcare, education, and industrial builds — ensuring mechanical work meets design intent, code, and schedule.

Key Responsibilities – HVAC Project Engineer
- Support HVAC project planning, scheduling, and cost tracking. Maintain logs, as-builts, and O&M documentation through closeout.
- Review mechanical drawings, submittals, and shop drawings against design specs and applicable codes.
- Coordinate with superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors on RFIs, change orders, and field documentation.
- Track procurement and delivery of AHUs, RTUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, and ancillary mechanical equipment.
- Support testing and balancing (TAB), commissioning, and punch list completion to verify system performance.
Qualifications – HVAC Project Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field
- 1–5 years of experience in HVAC, mechanical, or MEP construction
- Working knowledge of commercial and industrial HVAC systems, blueprints, and specifications
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, Procore, or comparable construction software
- Strong coordination, written communication, and organizational skills
Qualifications – Mechanical Project Engineer
- EIT or FE certification
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- Hands-on experience with TAB and commissioning workflows
- Exposure to healthcare, education, or data center mechanical scopes
- Familiarity with LEED or energy modeling concepts
Physical Requirements – HVAC Project Engineer
- Ability to walk active jobsites including unfinished interiors, mechanical rooms, and rooftops
- Climbing ladders, navigating scaffolding, and standing for extended periods
- Lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Exposure to dust, noise, temperature variation, and outdoor conditions
- Minimal travel required; primarily local Kansas City metro project sites
