Superintendent – Mechanical / Sheet Metal / Plumbing

Location: Kansas City, MO / KS

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee large commercial projects across sheet metal, mechanical piping, and plumbing scopes. This role is ideal for a senior-level field leader who understands how these trades intersect and can manage schedules, manpower, quality, and safety across all three at a high level.

The ideal candidate has deep commercial construction experience, strong leadership presence on site, and the ability to coordinate multiple mechanical trades while driving projects forward efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee field operations for sheet metal, mechanical piping, and plumbing scopes on large commercial projects
• Coordinate daily activities across multiple trades to ensure alignment with project schedules and milestones
• Lead foremen and field crews; ensure proper staffing, productivity, and workflow
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other superintendents to resolve field issues
• Maintain high standards for quality control, safety compliance, and workmanship
• Identify and proactively address schedule conflicts, manpower challenges, and material issues
• Review drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure proper execution
• Conduct site meetings, inspections, and progress tracking
• Ensure work is performed in accordance with company standards, contract documents, and local codes

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Superintendent on large commercial construction projects
• Strong background in at least one mechanical trade (sheet metal, piping, or plumbing), with the ability to oversee all three
• Demonstrated ability to manage multi-trade mechanical scopes simultaneously
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• OSHA knowledge and commitment to jobsite safety
• Experience working with project schedules and coordinating subcontractors

Qualifications

• Experience overseeing all three mechanical trades at a high level
• Background in hospitals, data centers, industrial, higher education, or other complex commercial projects
• Ability to mentor foremen and develop field leadership
• Familiarity with scheduling software and digital field tools
