Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and service-driven IT Support Specialist to join our growing team in Roanoke, VA.

In this role, you’ll serve as the first point of contact for employees experiencing technical issues with hardware, software, networks, and applications. Your mission is to diagnose problems quickly, provide effective solutions, and deliver exceptional customer support to keep our teams productive and connected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support via phone, email, chat, remote tools, and in-person
  • Manage help desk tickets in Zoho Desk, prioritizing and escalating issues as needed
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to:
    • Windows / Intune
    • Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Azure, OneDrive)
    • Hardware (desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, mobile devices)
    • Network connectivity (Wi-Fi, VPN, LAN/WAN)
    • Common business applications
  • Install, configure, and deploy computers, software, updates, and security patches
  • Set up and support user accounts, permissions, and system access
  • Assist with employee onboarding/offboarding (equipment setup, access provisioning)
  • Perform basic system maintenance, backups, and endpoint security tasks (antivirus, MFA, patching)
  • Document solutions and contribute to knowledge base resources
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements
  • Occasionally support after-hours projects or on-call rotations (migrations, upgrades, etc.)

Required Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or technical support
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer service and communication abilities (able to explain technical concepts clearly)
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Primarily seated office role with regular computer use
  • Frequent typing and data entry
  • Use of standard office equipment (computers, printers, scanners)
  • Phone and video communication throughout the day
  • Occasional standing and walking within the office
  • Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility based on business needs
