Journeyman Pipefitter (Data Center Construction)

Location: Fredericksburg, VA
Project Type: New Construction – Ground-Up Data Center

Position Summary

The Journeyman Pipefitter is responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing piping systems for a ground-up data center construction project. This role requires expertise in high-purity, chilled water, condenser water, and mechanical systems critical to data center operations. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of commercial/industrial piping systems, can read blueprints, and works safely and efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and maintain piping systems, including chilled water, condenser water, heating hot water, and process piping.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and submittals to determine layout and installation procedures.
• Measure, cut, thread, groove, and bend pipe using hand and power tools.
• Perform rigging, hoisting, and setting of piping and equipment.
• Install valves, hangers, supports, and related components in accordance with code and project specifications.
• Perform hydrostatic testing, flushing, and support system commissioning.

Qualifications

• Journeyman-level experience (typically 4+ years) in pipefitting within commercial or industrial construction.
• Experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, or large mechanical plants .
• Strong knowledge of piping systems, including chilled water and HVAC systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Proficient with pipefitting tools, equipment, and installation techniques.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly.
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
• Prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders/scaffolding.
