Job DescriptionJob DescriptionMBS is hiring a Level 2 Network Engineer in Hamilton, OH. This position is full-time, temp to hire opportunity. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Triage and resolve escalated network incidents (performance, connectivity, security events) within SLA; drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Implement and validate standard changes: switch/router configs, ACLs, VPNs, VLANs, QoS, wireless, load balancing, and firewall rules following change-control.
- Maintain and improve monitoring/alerting and capacity baselines; perform routine patching and upgrades on supported network platforms.
- Provide “Smart Hands” support in the data center: racking/cabling, power cycles, device swaps, loopbacks, and onsite validation for remote engineers.
- Create/update runbooks, diagrams, and post-incident reports; contribute to knowledge articles for Tier 1/Service Desk handoffs.
- Partner with Tier 3 on project work (migrations, new site turn-ups, cloud connectivity) and on hardening/standardization initiatives.
- Participate in a shift/on-call rotation to support a 24×7×365 NOC.
REQUIREMENTS
- 3–5+ years in network support (MSP/NOC or enterprise), with solid troubleshooting across L2/L3 (VLANs, STP, EtherChannel, routing protocols), IPv4/IPv6, DHCP/DNS, NAT, VPN (IPsec/SSL), and wireless fundamentals.
- Hands-on with firewalls, switches/routers, and site-to-site/client VPNs; experience applying change control and documenting configs.
- Familiarity with monitoring/ticketing tools (e.g., SolarWinds/PRTG, ServiceNow/Jira) and interpreting logs/pcaps.
- Strong customer communication; proven ownership of tickets through resolution and RCA write-ups.
- : CCNA/CCNP (or equivalent), Network+, PCNSA/NSE4, or similar; basic scripting (Python/PowerShell) a plus.
- Able to work on-site in Cincinnati/Hamilton, OH data center as needed; occasional travel to client sites and the secondary facility (Pittsburgh, PA).
- Exposure to cloud/networking (AWS/Azure VPC/VNet, ExpressRoute/VPN), SD-WAN concepts, and segmentation/Zero Trust.
- Experience supporting colocation customers and multi-tenant environments.
- NOC environment with shift coverage and potential nights/weekends/holidays per rotation; overtime as incidents demand.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
- Ability to move or lift up to 50+ lbs.
- Ability to reach, grasp, hold, push, pull, bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel.
- Ability to utilize hand/eye coordination.
- Capability to stand for prolonged periods of time
