Machine Shop Supervisor – Confidential OEM
Location: Itasca, IL (West Suburbs)
Shift: 2nd Shift | 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM + Overtime, also potential for 1st shift opening
Pay: $30–$40/hr + $3/hr shift differential
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (6 months)
About the Opportunity
This is a confidential opportunity with a well-established OEM manufacturer that designs and builds custom industrial machinery and equipment used in data centers and other critical infrastructure applications.
The company is experiencing significant growth, has a strong backlog of orders, and is expanding operations by launching a new second shift. This role offers consistent overtime, exposure to complex custom builds, and long-term stability with a manufacturer that has been operating successfully for over a century.
All hires will train on 1st shift initially before transitioning to 2nd shift once the team is fully staffed.
Open Positions
- CNC Machinists (Mills and/or Lathes)
- Machine Shop Supervisor (extensive Mazak experience - does not need prior supervision experience)
Candidates may be considered for either role based on experience.
CNC Machinist Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and edit programs on CNC Mills and/or Lathes
- Work with high-mix, low-volume custom parts
- Edit and modify G-code or mazatrol (full programming is a plus)
- Upload and download programs via CNC software systems
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Verify parts meet tolerance and surface finish requirements
- Recommend process and efficiency improvements
- Perform routine preventative maintenance
CNC Machinist Requirements
- 2–5+ years of CNC machining experience
- Strong setup and G-code editing capability
- Experience in OEM, custom machinery, or job shop environments
- Ability to work overtime as production demands
Additional Details
- Shift Differential: $3/hr
- Overtime: Up to ~20 hrs/week
- Start Date: ASAP
- Requirements: Drug test and background check required
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
