Material Control Manager
Position Type: Full-time, Exempt, Salary
Reports to: Production Manager/Plant Manager
Supervisory Responsibility: Material Control Team

Summary Objective
The Material Control Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of material handling, control, and logistics to ensure the timely and accurate flow of materials from receipt through issuance to production. This role ensures alignment with production schedules, inventory accuracy, and 6S workplace standards while supporting operational efficiency across shifts.
Essential Functions
- Supervise daily material receiving activities, including inspection as necessary.
- Oversee material load and offload operations to ensure safe and efficient handling.
- Manage material identification, labeling, and traceability in accordance with company standards.
- Coordinate material transfers between storage and production areas.
- Direct and monitor logistical movement and coordination of materials within the facility.
- Oversee material kitting to ensure production has the correct parts and quantities on time.
- Maintain strict material storage control and proper organization of inventory.
- Conduct regular inventory verification (physical inventory counts) and resolve discrepancies.
- Implement and sustain inventory visual control systems for improved traceability and status visibility.
- Manage material issuance to production to support continuous workflow.
- Oversee consumable parts management and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) processes.
- Ensure proper segregation and control of damaged or nonconforming materials (NG materials).
- Supervise scrap and waste management in compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
- Manage ship-loose package coordination to support outbound logistics.
- Coordinate material setup for 2nd shift production team to maintain seamless handoff between shifts.
- Lead and sustain 5S activities within material storage and handling areas.

Work Location
This position will be located at our Normandy Facility in Jacksonville, FL. This position is not approved for telecommuting or working remotely.
Work Environment
Most work is performed in an office environment. May involve exposure to indoor and outdoor environments.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
Travel
Some occasional local day travel may also be necessary. Occasional travel to customer job sites and conferences may be required.
Required Education and Experience.
- 1+ year of experience in material control, inventory management, production planning, or related manufacturing operations within a heavy manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Familiarity with 5S, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and reporting tools
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED required; additional education but not mandatory.
Education and Experience
- Proven background in supervising teams involved in material handling, warehousing, or logistics with a strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, and production scheduling.
- Heavy equipment operation skills and knowledge are necessary
