Job Title: M&E Quantity Surveyor

* Salary: £70,000 - £90,000

* Location: West Thurrock

* Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

About the Company:
Our client is a fast-growing M&E Contractor based in West Thurrock, owned by a well-established main contractor turning over close to £180m. Their M&E division is expanding rapidly due to strong growth and success, which means they have an exciting opportunities for an M&E Professionals to join their team. They deliver projects across London & the Southeast, including residential, commercial, data centre, healthcare, and education sectors.

They are currently seeking a highly motivated M&E Quantity Surveyor to join their office-based team.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical or electrical (M&E) projects.

- Analyse project drawings and specifications to determine the scope of work and required materials.

- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

- Monitor and report on budget variances, providing timely updates to project stakeholders.

Contract Administration:

- Administer contracts, including reviewing and negotiating terms and conditions.

- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and identify potential risks.

- Coordinate the tendering process for M&E works, including preparing tender documents and evaluating bids.

- Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.

Value Engineering:

- Identify opportunities for value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality.

- Collaborate with project teams to implement cost-effective solutions.

- Prepare regular financial reports detailing project costs, forecasts, and expenditure.

- Provide financial updates to senior management and project stakeholders.

- Manage change orders and variations, assessing their impact on project costs and timelines.

- Negotiate and finalize adjustments to contract values as required.

- Identify potential risks related to cost and financial aspects of projects.

- Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure project profitability.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

- Proven experience as Quantity Surveyor working for M&E contractors.

- Chartered status with a relevant professional body is desirable.

- Strong knowledge of construction contracts and relevant regulations.

- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.

- Proficient in using relevant software tools, such as cost estimating and project management software.
