In this role, you will provide expert quantity surveying services for Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) aspects of construction projects, contributing to the successful delivery of large and complex developments. This role is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to further develop their career while working on a variety of high-profile projects across multiple sectors, including commercial, residential, and data centres.\n\nAs a Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual elements of M&E projects, including cost management, contract administration, procurement, and risk management.

You will collaborate with internal teams, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nCost Management and Control:\n\nProvide accurate cost estimates, cost plans, and budgets for M&E elements of projects.\nMonitor project costs and cash flow, ensuring that M&E work is delivered within the agreed budget.\nAdvise clients on cost-effective solutions and help identify opportunities for cost savings.\nPrepare and review interim valuations, final accounts, and change orders for M&E works.\nAssess and evaluate variations, claims, and disputes related to M&E aspects of the project.\n\nProcurement and Contract Management:\n\nAssist in the procurement process for M&E contractors and subcontractors, ensuring that the best value is achieved.\nProvide advice on contractual arrangements, including NEC, JCT, and bespoke contracts.\nReview and negotiate terms and conditions with contractors and suppliers to ensure the project is commercially advantageous.\nManage contract administration, including the preparation of documentation for payments, variations, and claims.\n\nProject Delivery and Coordination:\n\nSupport the project team in coordinating M&E activities to ensure projects are delivered on time and in line with the agreed scope.\nMonitor the progress of M&E works, flagging any issues or delays to senior management and clients.\nAct as a key point of contact for clients, contractors, and suppliers regarding M&E costs and contract matters.\nLiaise with engineers, architects, and other consultants to ensure M&E systems integrate effectively into the overall design.\n\nRisk Management:\n\nIdentify and manage risks related to M&E costs, contracts, and procurement, developing strategies to mitigate these risks.\nMonitor and report on risk factors throughout the project lifecycle, providing timely updates to clients and senior management.\nEnsure compliance with health and safety standards, environmental regulations, and other relevant legislation.\n\nReporting and Documentation:\n\nPrepare detailed reports, including cost analysis, financial forecasts, and project progress updates.\nMaintain accurate records of all M&E costs and contract documentation, ensuring transparency and accountability.\nProvide input for regular project meetings, assisting with the review of progress, costs, and risks.\n\nClient and Stakeholder Management:\n\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.\nProvide expert advice and guidance to clients on M&E-related matters throughout the project lifecycle.\nCollaborate with senior management to deliver high-quality outcomes that meet client expectations.\n\nRequired Qualifications and Experience\n\nDegree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (MRICS or equivalent ).\nMinimum 5–8 years of experience in M&E quantity surveying, with a proven track record in managing M&E projects from inception to completion.\nIn-depth knowledge of M&E systems and construction practices, particularly in complex building projects.\nStrong experience in cost management, contract administration, and procurement processes for M&E works.\nProficiency with industry-standard software (e.g., CostX, Excel, MS Project, etc.).\nDetailed understanding of construction contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT) and the ability to manage claims, variations, and disputes.\nExperience working in sectors such as commercial, residential, or data centres is highly desirable.\n\nSkills and Competencies\n\nStrong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex cost structures, financial data, and provide clear, concise reports.\nAttention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work, especially in cost estimation and contract administration.\nClient-Focused: Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear and concise advice to clients and stakeholders.\nProblem-Solving: Ability to identify issues early and develop practical solutions to overcome challenges.\nLeadership and Teamwork: Capable of working independently and as part of a team, leading less experienced colleagues where appropriate.\nTime Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.\n\nWhat We Offer\n\nCompetitive salary and performance-based bonuses.\nA comprehensive benefits package, including private healthcare, pension, and more.\nCareer progression opportunities and support for ongoing professional development.\nExposure to exciting and challenging projects across a wide range of sectors.\nA collaborative and dynamic working environment with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement
