Job Description
Mechanical QA/QC Engineer
Project Overview
Provide on-site mechanical QA/QC in an already-operational fab, supporting tool installs, sustaining projects, bay conversions, and shutdown/turnaround windows. Systems include cleanroom HVAC, PCW/CHW/glycol, CDA/vacuum, exhaust/abatement, and mechanical interfaces to bulk/specialty gas, UPW/WWT, and tool hook-ups. Focus is on quality, compliance, and safe execution in a live production environment.
Day-to-Day
- Execute Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), QA checklists, and hold points during retrofits and tool tie-ins; perform field inspections and document results.
- Review submittals/RFIs, redlines, and BIM/As-builts; verify equipment/model/serial alignment with specs and owner standards.
- Witness/verify hydro/helium leak tests, pressure tests, TAB/airflow results, insulation/labeling, and rotation/flow direction on pumps/fans.
- Validate tool utility matrices and mechanical hook-ups; confirm interlocks and safeties are reflected in BMS/SCADA points and alarms.
- Track and drive closure of NCRs/COs, corrective actions, and punch items with GC/trades; keep turnover documentation audit-ready.
- Support startup/commissioning (FAT/SAT/functional testing), MOP/LOTO reviews, and handover packages (O&M, PSSR, as-builts).
- Coordinate daily with GC/EPC, trades, Facilities Ops, Tool OEMs, and EHS; prep for AHJ inspections; work within production-safe access constraints.
Must-Have Skills

- Working knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, IMC, SEMI safety guidance; awareness of IFC HPM/OSHA 1910.
- Field experience in operational fabs: tool hook-ups, bay conversions, retrofit QA, and start-up support.
- Proficient reading P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and BIM; tools: Revit/AutoCAD/Bluebeam; strong QA documentation discipline.
- Hands-on with pressure/leak testing, TAB witnessing, equipment QA (nameplate/spec checks), and turnover packages.
