Mechanical Shift Leader\n\nLocation: Canary Wharf, London\nSalary: Up to £58,000 per annum + Bonus + Overtime\nShift Pattern: Continental Shift Pattern (Days & Nights) – 7am–7pm / 7pm–7am\n\nThe Opportunity:\n\nWe are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Shift Leader to join a prestigious critical environment located in Canary Wharf. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking to take the next step into a leadership role within a high-profile commercial site.\n\nWorking as part of a dedicated engineering team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and management of mechanical building services, ensuring all plant and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual requirements.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n * Lead and supervise a team of shift engineers on a continental shift rota.\n\n * Ensure all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works are completed to a high standard.\n\n * Monitor and maintain critical mechanical systems including HVAC, pumps, pressurisation units, BMS interfaces, AHUs, FCUs, chilled water and heating systems.\n\n * Act as the site escalation point for mechanical issues and emergency situations.\n\n * Manage subcontractors and specialist service providers.\n\n * Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures, permits to work, and site-specific regulations.\n\n * Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, and root cause analysis on plant failures.\n\n * Complete accurate reporting and handover documentation.\n\n * Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.\n\nRequirements:\n\n * Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship or equivalent).\n\n * Previous experience working within commercial buildings, critical environments, data centres, banking, healthcare, or similar facilities.\n\n * Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services systems.\n\n * Experience leading or supervising engineering teams.\n\n * Good understanding of safe systems of work and permit procedures.\n\n * Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.\n\n * Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced critical environment.\n\nWhat's On Offer?\n\n * Salary up to £58,000 per annum\n\n * Annual performance bonus\n\n * Continental shift pattern (Days & Nights)\n\n * Overtime opportunities available\n\n * 20 days shift leave\n\n * Private pension scheme\n\n * Competitive benefits package\n\n * Ongoing training and career development\n\n * Career progression opportunities within a leading facilities management organisation\n\n * Stable, long-term contract in a flagship Canary Wharf location\n\nApply Now:\n\nIf you are an experienced Mechanical Engineer or Shift Leader seeking a new challenge within a high-profile critical environment, we'd love to hear from you.
