The Physical Infrastructure Specialist at AOC Connect is responsible for managing and optimizing the physical infrastructure that supports our IT operations. This includes overseeing the design, installation, and maintenance of essential physical components such as data centers, server rooms, and network facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure Design: Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to design and implement resilient and efficient physical infrastructure solutions for data centers and network facilities.
- Installation and Configuration: Oversee the installation and configuration of hardware components, including servers, networking equipment, and power distribution units, ensuring compliance with best practices and industry standards.
- Maintenance and Optimization: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of physical infrastructure systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with safety regulations.
- Capacity Planning: Monitor infrastructure capacity and performance metrics, and conduct planning for future growth or upgrades based on organizational needs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of the physical infrastructure, including diagrams, configurations, and maintenance records.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to support IT projects by providing physical infrastructure insights and ensuring timely execution of deployments.
- Incident Response: Act as a primary contact for physical infrastructure issues, leading troubleshooting efforts and coordinating with vendors as necessary to resolve incidents.
- Security Compliance: Ensure the physical security and integrity of IT assets through the implementation of proper access controls and surveillance measures.
Requirements
- Two (2) years of professional experience in relation to electrical wiring, generator power, fiber optic installation, LAN test equipment (e.g., OTDR) and testing of networks and electrical systems.
- This position is required to have a BICSI ITS (Information Technology Systems) Installer Level 1 certification. This certificate must be obtained no later than ninety (90) days after Task Order award. The Contractor must provide a written plan for attaining the required certification no later than ninety (90) days after Task Order award for personnel that do not current meet this certification.
