What The Role Entails
The Physical Security Coordinator (PSC) position is part of the CloudHQ Operations team. The PSC shall report to the Physical Security Operations Manager and provide support and management for new and established security operations of CloudHQ’s large-scale data centers in the Northern Virginia region while ensuring that the highest levels of security, plant safety and tenant availability are maintained.
The ideal candidate for this role shall possess comprehensive knowledge of and experience in security systems, physical security operations, and management thereof. The PSC will oversee the implementation of CloudHQ Security procedures at new buildings, actively adapt them through construction phases, and optimize them over time to suit the building’s unique needs. The PSC will monitor process and policy performance and identify and recommend physical security and system improvements to include their cost-effectiveness. They shall assist and participate in planned penetration analysis of all CloudHQ facilities.

- Optimize operating strategies and maintenance programs to ensure client needs are being met while minimizing nuisance alarms and optimizing security resources
- Maintaining compliance with all SLA’s
- Initial training and of new security teams and team members to CloudHQ standards
- Collaborating on the programming of access control to include necessary updates of: site plans, alarm priorities, alarm instructions, action plans, notifications, video call-ups, etc.
- Development of smart wall video surveillance templates to suit the needs of each site, showing guards the most relevant feeds based on time schedules and internal inputs
- Working with camera analytics to optimize motion detection performance and camera alerts
- Supporting internal and external audits (e.g. SSAE18 compliance, ISO 27001, etc.)
- Maintaining an environment where diligence to policies and proven processes are a baseline requirement
- Ensure best security and safety practices and standards are adopted and enforced
- Identify and pursue opportunities for innovation and efficiencies
- Knowledge and familiarity with all emergency response plans and evacuation procedures, which includes participation in fire evacuation drills
- Achieve and maintain manufacturer technical certifications for relevant security systems
- Assist with incident response and investigations
- Develop security training guidelines, testing, and ongoing training program
- Adapt standardized policies and procedures to be relevant and optimized across disparate sites
- Will spend a minimum of three (3) days per quarter on-site outside of usual business hours to observe and familiarize with the second and third security officer shifts
- Provide Tier 1 device troubleshooting
What You Bring to The Role
- Three or more years of security management and security systems administrator experience in a high-reliability data center environment or equivalent
- Extensive knowledge of facility physical security, security systems, and security guidelines
- Background as a security manager, security integrator, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company
- Proficiency Microsoft Office suite applications, access control systems, and related software
- Advanced oral and written communication and technical writing skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Identify trends and articulate implications that will have an impact on data center operations
- Actively solicit feedback to ensure all activities and deliverables meet or exceed expectations
- Ability to handle typical emergencies and crises efficiently and effectively
- Ability and willingness to work extended or off-hours as business requires
Our Ideal Candidate Will Also Possess
- Technical certifications from access control and video surveillance manufacturers
- Participation in security-related organizations (i.e. International Association of Chiefs of Police, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, American Society of Industrial Security, or similar organizations)
Unique Requirements:
- Travel among facilities in Northern Virginia as needed
- Must carry a cell phone at all times and be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Extended hours may be significant at times
