Principal Technical Writer - Neuron, Annapurna Labs

AWS Neuron is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Writer Lead to define and drive Neuron Software stack documentation. AWS Neuron is the software stack for AWS Machine Learning chips Trainium and Inferentia, that are delivering best-in-class ML performance in the cloud. You will form the documentation methodology, dive deep into how our ML infrastructure works, and guide others on best-practices, as well as lead documentation usability initiatives to continuously improve ease-of-use, clarity and quality of Neuron documentation. As part of the scope, you will hire and lead a team of technical writers, working closely with engineering and product management to deliver high-quality documentation that enables customers to effectively implement and utilize our AI infrastructure. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the documentation approach for our cutting edge technology that's advancing AI infrastructure at scale, used by industry leaders like Anthropic, Databricks, Qualcomm, Adobe, poolside.ai and many others.

Key job responsibilities
* Build and develop a team of Technical Writers, fostering their growth and ensuring high-quality deliverables
* Drive documentation strategy and execution for AWS Neuron, working directly with engineering teams across monthly software releases.
* Manage documentation in an open-source environment using Sphinx, overseeing contributions from both internal and external developers
* Design and author technical content including API references, developer guides, and application notes
* Drive best practices for new API design and documentation quality standards
* Create plans to improve operational efficiency and productivity for the documentation process
* Collaborate with Product Management to align documentation with product strategy
* Develop and optimize content for varying technical proficiency levels
* Engage with customers to gather feedback and drive continuous improvement
* Track, analyze, and report on content performance against customer goals using key metrics

A day in the life
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing for software developer audiences, experience leading documentation teams, and a solid understanding of machine learning concepts. They should be able to manage documentation in open-source environments, drive best practices for API design and documentation, and create content strategies that improve developer effectiveness.
