The Opportunity

The Product Manager – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) will play a highly visible and critical role in Faith Technologies' continued evolution as a leader in distributed energy solutions. This individual will own the end-to-end strategy and product roadmap for the BESS product line, driving growth and profitability through deep market expertise, voice-of-the-customer insight, and disciplined product development execution.

The BESS Product Manager will serve as both a strategic thinker and a cross-functional connector – translating customer needs and market trends into compelling product requirements, and partnering closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, and Product Marketing to bring innovative, physical energy products to market. This individual will report directly to the Director of Product Management.

What the Role Entails

60-Day Performance Objectives

  • Learn Faith Technologies' Product Development Process (PDP), stage-gate methodology, systems, and cross-functional workflows.
  • Build strong working relationships with Engineering, Product Marketing, Technical Sales, Manufacturing, and Service.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) product line including its current state, competitive landscape, target markets, and strategic fit within the broader Excellerate portfolio.
  • Conduct initial market and competitive research to understand the distributed energy resource, BESS, and microgrid landscape – identifying key trends, market sizing, and customer requirements.
  • Begin attending customer and trade show interactions to start building firsthand voice-of-the-customer (VOC) exposure.

90-Day Performance Objectives

  • Take partial ownership of the BESS product portfolio, actively contributing to roadmap discussions and aligning internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with Engineering to advance the BESS product through early stage-gate milestones, including high-level market requirements and concept-level feasibility work.
  • Begin authoring Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) that clearly communicate product scope, features, and requirements to Engineering, Supply Chain, and Marketing.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing on early-stage positioning, messaging, and go-to-market considerations for the BESS product line.
  • Identify near-term opportunities for cost/margin analysis, pricing strategy input, and documentation improvements.

365-Day Performance Objectives

  • Take full ownership of the BESS product line, serving as its internal and external champion across Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and leadership.
  • Drive measurable outcomes including unit sales vs. forecast, product margin performance, and customer adoption and satisfaction metrics.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment to advance BESS through the stage-gate process toward launch or significant milestone achievement.
  • Standardize product documentation, pricing models, and go-to-market processes to support scalability and commercial readiness.
  • Begin contributing to the longer-term vision of integrating BESS with the broader Excellerate portfolio – including power distribution and busway products – to deliver complete, turnkey energy solutions to data center and industrial customers.

Required Skills & Experience

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in product engineering, product management, or a closely related technical role involving a manufactured, physical product.
  • Direct, hands-on experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), distributed energy resources (DER), microgrids, or closely adjacent energy technologies.
  • Demonstrated success managing the full product lifecycle from market research and requirements definition through development, launch, and commercialization.
  • Strong ability to speak, read, write, and interpret technical information – bridging the gap between Engineering and commercial stakeholders.
  • Proven cross-functional collaboration skills with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain.
  • Experience conducting voice-of-the-customer (VOC) research, authoring PRDs, and presenting product strategy to diverse audiences.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Familiarity with stage-gate product development processes and structured PDP methodologies.
  • Experience in data center infrastructure, EV, or industrial energy applications.
  • Background in technical sales or sales engineering, with direct customer-facing experience in tradeshow or consultative selling environments.
  • Exposure to cost/margin analysis, pricing strategy development, and product P&L ownership.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Business, or Marketing; MBA .
