Project Manager - Mission Critical Programs (Northern Virginia)

Position Overview
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee multisite, mission-critical construction programs in the vibrant landscape of Northern Virginia. In this pivotal role, you will guide projects from initiation through closeout, serving as the go-to manager for Construction Managers and subcontractors. Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and risk management in critical power infrastructure, retrofits, and new builds. Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Governance: Act as the primary escalation point for Construction Managers (CMs), coordinates project schedules and manages daily and weekly status updates to review progress and risks.
Commercial Management & Cost Control: Oversee subcontractor requisitions, manage project budgets, and prepare client invoices while ensuring accurate change order documentation.
Engineering, RFIs, Submittals & Documentation: Manage the request for information and submittal processes, ensuring timely responses and adherence to documentation requirements.
Subcontractor & Onboarding Management: Facilitate subcontractor onboarding and daily labor assignments, ensuring compliance with site access and security standards.
Equipment, Logistics & Readiness: Collaborate with equipment managers to oversee forecasts and ensure all pre-job documentation is completed and approved prior to start.
Safety, Quality & Commissioning: Lead safety management initiatives and coordinate QA/QC activities to ensure projects adhere to high-quality standards.
Cutovers, Permits & Critical Work: Manage high-risk permit processes and coordinate stakeholders for critical cutovers, ensuring thorough planning and risk mitigation.
Required Skills
5-8+ years of project management experience in construction, specifically within mission-critical or data center environments.
Proven expertise in managing complex electrical/MEP projects, including budgets, schedules, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeout.
Strong knowledge of safety management practices and high-risk permitting for live facilities.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, comfortable leading meetings with clients and coordinating with multiple teams.
Nice to Have Skills
Familiarity with industry-standard project management software and tools.
Previous experience in a smaller company environment that fosters agility and adaptability.
Understanding of innovative construction technologies and methodologies.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Professional certifications such as PMP, CAPM, or similar are advantageous.
Other Requirements
Willingness to travel as necessary to project sites.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
