Job Summary:
As the Project Manager, OSP, you will ultimately be responsible for managing outside plant (OSP) telecommunications projects, coordinating project teams, and ensuring successful project execution from planning through completion. You will lead project activities, manage schedules, budgets, resources, and customer expectations while delivering high-quality project outcomes. As the Project Manager, OSP, your customers are telecommunications clients, vendors, contractors, and internal engineering and construction teams, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through project leadership, operational excellence, and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
- Lead project teams within designated project areas, including vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
- Define project scope, objectives, schedules, resource plans, budgets, and project deliverables
- Manage project tasks to ensure timely completion while meeting production, capacity, quality, and cycle time expectations
- Conduct internal meetings with project teams and leadership to review project status, identify risks, and implement corrective actions
- Attend customer meetings, provide comprehensive project status updates, and resolve customer concerns or project issues
- Maintain accurate project documentation and tracking within company project management systems
- Develop and improve project processes and procedures to increase efficiency and streamline workflows
- Identify opportunities to reduce project cycle times while improving quality and customer satisfaction
- Retrieve, analyze, transform, and report project data to support business intelligence and project decision-making
- Perform additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs
Required Qualifications:
Education, Licensing, and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or a related field
- Valid driver's license
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience
- 1–3 years of experience in construction or project coordination roles
- Experience managing Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) telecommunications projects
- Experience with FTTx, Long Haul, and DCC turnkey builds
- Experience managing large-scale telecommunications construction projects
- Experience with fiber optic, carrier, and colocation products and services in operational, engineering, or implementation environments
- Previous experience as an Assistant Project Manager, Field Engineer, Estimator, Scheduler, or similar role
Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple teams and priorities
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with customers, contractors, government agencies, and internal stakeholders
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze problems and implement effective solutions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering White Glove customer service
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, SQL, Visio, Google Earth, and other project management software
- Knowledge of civil construction and telecommunications infrastructure
Qualifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
- Experience supporting broadband, telecommunications, or utility infrastructure projects
- Civil construction and telecommunications construction background
- Experience with fiber optic network deployment and carrier implementation projects
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to maintain visual and audible awareness of personnel, equipment, vehicles, and worksite activities
- Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and construction machinery
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, push, pull, twist, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses, and other required safety gear
- Ability to travel domestically as business needs require
