Job Title: Construction Safety Manager 5

Duration: 7 to 18 months contract with possible extension

Location: Onsite; MILWAUKEE MKE16 Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin

Pay Rate: $95/hr on W2

Daily schedule and OT estimate: 50 hours a week (Onsite daily from 6-7 am to 2-3 pm with extra time likely and also weekend work expected rotating for same time)

The Construction Health and Safety Manager will serve as field level representative for health and safety on state-of-the-art hyperscale data center projects, providing essential oversight and support to General Contractor (GC) teams.

This role is designed for a skilled safety professional who can deliver high-level advisory support while fostering a culture of safety excellence that aligns with the commitment to achieving "Olympic-Level" safety performance. You will play a crucial role in establishing and nurturing collaborative relationships across various stakeholders, ensuring that safety practices are not only implemented but also continuously improved through the adoption of industry best practices. Your ability to influence, coach, and share these best practices will be paramount in driving success without direct oversight of GC operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure Compliance with Global Construction Safety Requirements: Verify that GCs adhere to global construction safety policies and high-risk activity management plans, including Safety Performance Standards (SPS) documentation. This includes confirming that GCs maintain comprehensive safety programs such as stretch and flex initiatives, validate the strength of GC's physical and mental health and well being programs, verify that unique elements of policy are being followed and ensure that all necessary permits to work are obtained and verified.

Conduct Site Observations and Reporting: Perform regular on-site safety observations to assess compliance with safety protocols and identify areas for improvement. Your findings will be documented in comprehensive reports that highlight trends, actionable insights, and recommendations for enhancing safety practices.

Engage in Planning Meetings: Actively participate and ensure the quality in Level , 2, and 3 - Project, Task and Field level planning meetings, as well as three-week lookahead planning sessions and daily activity briefings. Your engagement will help ensure that safety considerations are integrated into all project planning and execution phases, providing valuable feedback to GC teams.

Guide GC Leadership in Safety Practices: Facilitate training sessions and workshops to educate GC leadership on safety requirements and best practices. You will emphasize the importance of a strong safety culture and performance, encouraging GCs to adopt proactive strategies for hazard prevention and incident management.

Supportive Leadership for GCs: Work alongside GCs to ensure their teams are prepared to meet safety expectations. Your approach will be customer-focused, involving transparent communication, active listening, and constructive feedback that fosters a spirit of collaboration and mutual respect.

Influence Without Directing: Employ influence and coaching techniques to empower GC teams. Your role is to share best practices and facilitate discussions that lead to innovative safety solutions while allowing GCs the autonomy to manage their operations.

Engagement with Multiple Stakeholders: Actively engage with various internal and external stakeholders, including Construction, Quality, Safety, Environmental, Project Coordination, and Supply Chain teams. Your professionalism and strong relationship-building skills will be crucial in ensuring effective collaboration across all levels of the project.

Fostering Best Practices: Drive the continuous improvement of safety standards by researching and implementing industry best practices. This includes staying updated on the latest safety trends, regulations, and technologies to enhance safety performance across all projects. Encourage the sharing of knowledge and experiences among teams to cultivate an environment of collective learning and improvement.

Embrace a Growth Mindset: Promote a growth mindset within the team and among GCs, encouraging continuous learning, adaptability, and resilience. Support a culture where feedback is valued, and team members feel empowered to take initiative and explore innovative safety solutions.

Qualifications:

certifications: Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or other relevant safety designations.

5+ years of experience in health and safety management, with a focus on construction or project environments, ideally within hyperscale data center projects.

Proven track record of engaging effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and strong relationship-building capabilities.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence diverse teams and foster a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and the adoption of best practices.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of assessing complex safety issues and developing practical solutions that align with safety goals.

Demonstrated ability to lead by example, influencing and motivating others to prioritize safety and uphold high standards of performance.
