Job Description

Shirley Parsons is partnered with an industry-leading client seeking an experienced Site Safety Representative to provide hands-on safety leadership and oversight for an active construction project. This individual will work closely with project leadership, field personnel, and subcontractors to promote a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain established site safety programs and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Manage the on-site safety program, including conducting orientations, maintaining training documentation, coordinating training logistics with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager, and ensuring all applicable employees and subcontractors complete required prior to beginning work.

\n

• Coordinate and administer required site safety training, including fall protection, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), forklift operation, crane operation, and aerial/scissor lift training. Maintain accurate training records and verify that personnel meet applicable training and certification requirements.

\n

• Manage the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) program, including reviewing crew JHAs for accuracy and completeness, mentoring field leadership on proper JHA development, supporting the creation of standard-work JHAs, and maintaining required documentation.

\n

• Oversee the weekly toolbox talk program, including selecting relevant safety topics, conducting toolbox talks, completing required documentation, and maintaining training records.

\n

• Establish and maintain the jobsite safety board and required safety resources, including applicable OSHA and Department of Labor postings, emergency and occupational medical facility information, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), first-aid and eyewash resources, LOTO materials, JHA forms, equipment inspection documentation, and other required safety information.

\n

• Provide immediate notification of work-related injuries, medical emergencies, near misses, and forklift/heavy equipment incidents to appropriate project and safety leadership. Coordinate timely medical response when necessary.

\n

• Partner with the Project Superintendent, Project Manager, and corporate safety leadership to investigate incidents and injuries, identify root causes, determine corrective actions, and complete required documentation.

\n

• Maintain the site's OSHA 300 Log in accordance with OSHA Recordkeeping requirements under 29 CFR 1904, coordinating recordability determinations with appropriate safety leadership.

\n

• Serve as the site's Competent Person for Fall Protection, identifying existing and foreseeable fall hazards and implementing prompt corrective measures in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M and applicable company safety programs.

\n

• Conduct and document inspections of fall protection equipment, including harnesses, self-retracting lifelines (SRLs), anchor straps, beam anchors, and horizontal lifeline systems prior to deployment and at required intervals.

\n

• Maintain accurate safety records, inspection documentation, training records, and other compliance materials required by company, client, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

\n

\n
• Previous experience in a Site Safety Representative, Safety Coordinator, Safety Technician, or similar construction safety role.

\n

• Strong knowledge of OSHA construction safety regulations and industry best practices.

\n

• Experience managing site orientations, safety training, JHAs/JHAs, toolbox talks, incident investigations, and safety documentation.

\n

• Strong working knowledge of fall protection, LOTO, mobile equipment, and construction-related hazards.

\n

• Ability to work effectively with project management, field supervision, subcontractors, and craft personnel.

\n

• Strong communication, documentation, organization, and problem-solving skills.

\n

• Ability to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and implement appropriate corrective actions in a field-based construction environment.

• Relevant OSHA and safety certifications are and/or may be required depending on the project.
