Client:\n\nEstablished 90 years ago, our client is recognised as a market leading mechanical and electrical contractor throughout London and south east. With a specialism in commercial office and datacentres projects, they also work in public, retail, health, education, leisure, residential and pharmaceutical sectors. Their experience ranges from small work contracts circa £500k to major projects in excess of £40M.\n\nKey to Their success is the development of good working relationships with their clients.
As a result, they benefit from a large amount of repeat business. Their client base includes main contractors such as: Lend Lease, Sir Robert McAlpine, ISg and McLaren. They also have excellent relationships with end users including: UBS and Kings College London.\n\nWith improving market conditions the business has recently picked up a number of new projects.
Their 2026 turnover is expected to be in the region of £375M+. As a result, they are actively looking to recruit for their operational team.\n\nSenior M&E Project Manager – Salary up to £90,000 (DOE) + £5,000 Car Allowance + Full Travel Expenses + Pension (4%/8%) + Private Healthcare + Bonus\n\nStart Date: July 24\n\nRole:\n\nBased in Hemel Hempstead the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a £10M project. Reporting to a project director the position will be supported by a team of construction managers and supervisors.
You will be expected to take the project from pre-construction through to handover. Relationship management, team coordination and project reporting are key to this position.\n\nProject:\n\nNew Build data centre in Hemel Hempstead, with an MEP Value in the region of £30M, you will be working within a large multidisciplined team, alongside other project managers.\n\nRole/Responsibilities:\n\n * Tender review/validation\n\n * Design Management (reviewing design liaising with client, main contractor and consultants)\n\n * Procurement of subcontractors, kit and plant\n\n * Technical submittals\n\n * RFIs – Liaison with client team, main contractor and sub contractors\n\n * Value Engineering where applicable\n\n * Programming of works – using MS Project or Asta project\n\n * Health & Safety management (RAMs)\n\n * Commercial Responsibility, assisting with sub contractor variation accounts working alongside project specific Quantity Survey.\n\n * Management of variations\n\n * Team Coordination (overseeing junior engineers, construction managers and supervisors)\n\n * Progress meetings with sub-contractors, client and internal meetings\n\n * Overseeing commissioning stages\n\n * Formulation of OM Manuals and client handover\n\nThe ideal candidate:\n\n * Will be familiar working in a fast pace environment\n\n * Experience working in the data centre sector\n\n * Experience managing projects to a minimum of £5M within your own discipline\n\n * A minimum 5 years’ experience in a management role\n\n * Ideally the candidate will have subcontracted to main contractors such as ISg, Lend Lease, Sir Robert McAlpine and Mace.\n\n * The candidate will show longevity in previous employment\n\nIn return they offer:\n\n * A healthy pipeline of work – Our client have secured the majority of their turnover for next year.\n\n * Join a stable business who have an excellent staff attrition rate.\n\n * A very competitive basic salary, package and an excellent bonus scheme.\n\n * They are keen to promote from within and this position is no exception, with opportunities at senior management level
