Job Title: Senior Estimator – Site Development

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Senior Estimator with deep expertise in site development and heavy civil construction to lead cost estimating for complex, high-value projects. This role requires an analytical, detail-oriented professional capable of producing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive estimates, while partnering across departments to drive project acquisition and execution success.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for large-scale site development projects, including clearing, earthwork, utilities (wet/dry), stormwater management, site concrete, asphalt paving, and related scopes.
• Analyze bid packages, plans, and specifications to identify risks, opportunities, and cost drivers, and develop scope strategies that maximize competitiveness without compromising quality or compliance.
• Coordinate with preconstruction, project management, operations, and subcontractors to collect pricing data, labor and equipment rates, and project assumptions.
• Create precise estimates, quantity take-offs, cost models, and bid deliverables within tight timelines.
• Review historical cost data, market trends, and sourcing strategies to refine estimating methodology and improve predictability.
• Present and justify estimates to internal leadership; support pricing discussions with clients and partners.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior estimators and preconstruction team members.
• Ensure compliance with company estimating standards, procedures, and quality expectations.
• Participate in risk analysis, value engineering, and constructability reviews during design and pre-bid phases.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 6+ years of progressive estimating experience in site development, heavy civil, or infrastructure construction.
• Proven ability to estimate comprehensive scopes including earthwork, utilities, stormwater, paving, and concrete.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, labor, equipment productivity, and cost drivers.
• Proficient in industry estimating software - AGTEK and Bluebeam are a must, others will be beneficial (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Timberline, On-Screen Takeoff) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills; superior attention to detail.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills suited for both internal collaboration and external client engagement.
