Senior Superintendent – Mechanical (Plumbing & HVAC)
Sector: Commercial / Mission-Critical Construction
Location: Northern Texas (Abilene and/or Dallas)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Superintendent to lead field operations on a large-scale, mission-critical commercial project for a union mechanical contractor. This position requires deep expertise in both commercial plumbing and HVAC systems, and a proven background managing large, complex construction projects from start to finish.
This is a top-level field leadership role that will oversee overall site execution, workforce coordination, schedule adherence, quality control, and safety compliance. The right candidate will be comfortable operating at a high level with project executives, general contractors, engineers, and union leadership while maintaining a strong presence in the field.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide full on-site leadership for all mechanical scopes, including plumbing and HVAC
• Oversee large union crews, general foremen, and subcontractors
• Coordinate schedules, manpower planning, and work sequencing for complex builds
• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with drawings, specs, and codes
• Serve as primary field liaison to project managers, general contractor, inspectors, and engineers
• Lead site logistics planning, material flow, equipment scheduling, and tool coordination
• Proactively identify constructability issues, conflicts, and risk factors
• Drive production goals while maintaining top-tier quality standards
• Enforce all safety procedures and compliance requirements
• Mentor and develop foremen and journeymen into future leaders
• Report progress, risks, and milestone updates to senior leadership
Required Experience & Qualifications
• 10+ years in commercial / industrial mechanical construction
• Previous experience as a Superintendent on large, complex projects required
• Strong, hands-on knowledge of both plumbing and HVAC systems
• Experience on mission-critical, data center, healthcare, or industrial projects is highly
• Proven ability to lead large union crews and coordinate multiple scopes
• Deep understanding of mechanical drawings, specifications, and scheduling
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Strong knowledge of safety standards and best practices
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
• Journeyman or Master license in plumbing or mechanical
• Experience with mission-critical systems and redundancy requirements
• Experience coordinating multi-million-dollar projects
• Strong digital literacy with field management tools and reporting
