OVERVIEW:

SILTT is searching for a dynamic and highly motivated Sr. Network Operations Center (NOC) Network Technician responsible for providing intermediate support, performing in-depth network monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution across enterprise infrastructure as Level II support. Acting as the escalation point for Level I technicians, the Level II Technician analyzes network performance, identifies root causes, and implements fixes within defined SLAs. This role also supports planned maintenance, configuration validation, and coordination with engineering teams during network events and changes. The Level II Technician ensures consistent service availability through precise execution, documentation, and escalation discipline in a 24x7x365 operational environment. A DAY IN THE LIFE:

In this role, you will support a high-impact Network Operations Center that forms the backbone of enterprise service delivery. This role provides the opportunity to modernize NOC best practices and shape a world-class operations culture that scales while maintaining customer trust and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Monitoring and Incident Response:
  • Monitor network and infrastructure systems (routers, switches, firewalls, circuits, cloud links) through NMS and ITSM tools.
  • Perform Tier 2 triage and fault isolation using CLI, SNMP, and packet capture utilities.
  • Escalate Priority I/II events per defined SLAs and initiate incident bridges when required.
  • Track MTTA/MTTR metrics and ensure incident tickets are updated with accurate technical details.
  • Collaborate with carriers and vendors to coordinate fault repair or hardware replacement (RMA).

2. Maintenance and Change Support:

  • Execute scheduled maintenance, configuration updates, and patching under Change Planning Manager oversight.
  • Validate pre and post-change conditions; verify rollback procedures as required.
  • Participate in CAB reviews, ensuring network impacts and risks are clearly documented.

3. Problem Resolution and Optimization:

  • Conduct initial root-cause analysis for recurring issues and submit problem tickets to engineering.
  • Identify alert noise or false positives; recommend monitoring and threshold improvements.
  • Support proactive maintenance by validating system logs, backups, and performance baselines.

4. Documentation and Knowledge Transfer:

  • Update runbooks, network diagrams, and asset records following any configuration change.
  • Create and maintain troubleshooting guides and FAQs for common incidents.
  • Provide mentoring and hand-off training for Level I technicians on new procedures or tools.

5. Governance and Reporting:

  • Maintain ITIL compliance for incident, change, and problem management workflows.
  • Contribute data for weekly MBR and monthly QBR reporting (incident trends, SLA performance, RCA status).
  • Ensure accurate time logging and adherence to shift protocols.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, or related field .
  • BICSI certified Installer 2 or 3 (INST1, INSTC, INSTF) or Technician (TECH) , other BICSI or equivalent certifications will be considered.
  • 6+ years of hands-on network operations or infrastructure support experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, VPNs, routing/switching (BGP, OSPF, STP), and firewalls.
  • Proficiency in network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, LogicMonitor, Splunk, Nagios) and ITSM systems (ServiceNow or Remedy).
  • Familiarity with CLI troubleshooting (Cisco, Juniper, Arista) and ticket documentation standards.
  • Certifications: CCNA required; Network + and ITIL v4 Foundation .
  • Ability to communicate clearly under pressure and manage multiple concurrent incidents.

WORK LOCATION:

The work associated with this role is expected to be performed on-site at our San Diego Area location, though some travel may be required for periodic support as needed.
