Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer – Birmingham \n\n About the job:\nWe are seeking a Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer to join our soon-to-be-launched Birmingham office, working closely with our established Dublin team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the growth of our new UK hub while delivering major hyperscale data centre projects across the EMEA region.\n\n The role will initially be fully remote. Once the Birmingham office is operational, flexible attendance will be required as part of a hybrid working model.\n\n As a Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer, you will work within the data centre sector, leading electrical design packages from concept through to construction.

You will act as a key point of contact for clients and design teams, ensuring delivery aligns with programme, budget and quality expectations.\n\n You will provide technical direction to support engineers and BIM technicians, working both independently and collaboratively to ensure designs are delivered in line with construction timelines while maintaining high technical and quality standards.\n\n About you:\n\nHonours Degree – Chartered an advantage but not essential\n10+ years as a Senior Engineer\nMust have electrical building services design experience within Data Centre engineering projects\nIn-depth knowledge of electrical design and engineering techniques\nDeep knowledge of ETCI, CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS and EN Standards\nWorking knowledge of Autocad, Dialux, Amtech, and REVIT an advantage\nConfident leading projects from the concept stage to completion\nCommunicative and able to liaise with clients, architects, and project managers\nManage the specification and design of Electrical Building Services systems for a range of projects\nExcellent Microsoft Office skillsYour day-to-day activities:\n\nLead the Electrical Services design for a range of projects\nDesign and specification of electrical services for various types of buildings and sectors\nProduce detailed schematics\nDevelop the electrical design standards within the organisation\nMentor junior engineering staff\nProvide fully detailed tender packages and monitor installation/quality on site until project completion\nTender report/analysis/recommendations\nDevelop project scope with the design team/client\nConfidently use Microsoft Office, Autocad, Dialux, Amtech, and REVIT\nProduce budgets and reports for clients\nAttend site visits\nTake lead on projects with minimal input from the management teamWhy Join \n\n They are dedicated to fostering an environment that encourages both technical excellence and personal wellbeing.\n\nWe offer:\n\nFlexible Fridays and a 9-day fortnight working schedule — enjoy every second Friday off to maintain work–life balance.\nA culture that values flexibility, learning, and teamwork, with clear progression pathways and support toward professional accreditation.\nOpportunities to work alongside some of the most experienced engineers in the industry, within a forward-thinking, technology-driven consultancy.Benefits:\n\nFlexible working times\n25 Days holidays\nPension Scheme\nWorking travel out-of-pocket expenses\nRegular training/mentoring / further college support\nSupport for Chartership\nSubsidised Health Insurance Allowance\nA Professional Subscription paid by the company\nPaid Statutory Leaves\nHeavily subsidised social committee (5 a side, golf society, climbing club and regular social events)\n\nThe NRL Group connect global companies with the right people to bring engineering projects to life.
