Onsite Senior Project Manager - Data Center - Ashburn, VA

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Start Date: ASAP - April 2027
  • Project Manager with large scale Data Center/Decommisioning Experience

 

Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager with strong experience in large-scale data center decommissioning projects. The ideal candidate will have both project leadership capability and hands-on decommissioning experience.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience leading large-scale data center decommissioning projects, including shutdown of compute, storage, and network systems, asset removals, disposals, and space restoration
  • Hands-on expertise with physical decommissioning tasks such as hardware removal, racking/unracking, cabling teardown, and logistics coordination for equipment disposal or resale
  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow, including change tickets, tasks, approvals, workflows, and project documentation
  • Ability to develop and manage detailed project plans, milestones, timelines, dependencies, and resource allocations
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams including facilities, network, compute, storage, cabling, vendors, logistics, and security
  • Experience with inventory audits, asset tagging, chain-of-custody tracking, and compliance reporting
  • Knowledge of equipment disposal standards, including recycling, data sanitization, and environmental compliance
  • Capability to oversee cabinet, rack, and infrastructure breakdown, including floor tiles, ladders, cable trays, PDUs, and containment systems
  • Understanding of shutdown processes, including power-down sequencing, safety protocols, and facilities/electrical coordination
  • Willingness to actively participate in onsite work as needed
  • Strong communication skills, including executive-level status reporting, risk assessment, and mitigation planning
  • Experience managing vendors, contractors, and internal technical teams
  • Strong problem-solving ability and experience working under tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, documentation, and operational integrity throughout complex decommissioning efforts
  • Experience returning spaces to original or lease-compliant condition
