Description: Agile5 Technologies is seeking a highly experienced Senior Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain complex network and server infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability for large-scale enterprise applications, including cloud environments. This role involves troubleshooting critical issues, implementing automation through scripting, and providing technical leadership and consultation to IT staff. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in systems and network administration, virtualization, security best practices, and performance optimization, with a proven ability to manage and integrate diverse technologies.

Senior Systems Engineer Job Duties:

  • Supervise, coordinate, and/or design, develop, and perform additions and changes to network hardware, infrastructure server environments, operating systems, and attached devices.

  • Investigate, analyze, recommend, configure, install, and test new network hardware and software.

  • Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations of network hardware and operating systems, including evaluating system utilization and monitoring response time.

  • Provide primary support for the detection and correction of operational problems.

  • Troubleshoot at the physical level of the network using measurement hardware and software, as well as physically checking and testing hardware devices.

  • Troubleshoot at the logical level of the network using communication protocols.

  • Participate in planning, design, technical review, and implementation for new network infrastructure hardware and network operating systems for voice and data communication networks.

  • Perform systems management and integration functions.

  • Exhibit proficiency with virtualization technologies and network administration.

  • Maintain network infrastructure standards, including network communication protocols such as TCP/IP.

  • Provide technical consultation, training, and support to IT staff as designated by the government.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex communication problems.

  • Perform systems management and integration functions.

  • Be responsible for the design, deployment, evaluating, testing, certification, patching, and addressing interoperability issues of storage and backup systems, as well as all features, components, and application dependencies.

  • Ensure systems are current with approved patches and assist with certification and system accreditation tasks.

  • Compose Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quick Reference guides for users.

  • Provide top-level technical expertise responsible for the design and development of a client/server environment.

  • Develop the strategy of the client/server system and the design infrastructure necessary to support that strategy.

  • Advise on the selection of technological purchases regarding processing, data storage, data access, and applications development.

  • Set standards for the client/server relational database structure for the organization.

  • Advise management on the feasibility of potential future projects.

  • Apply hardware and network designs for large-scale enterprise applications (cloud providers, network design/implementation, data centers, network/systems/domain administration, virtualization platforms, SaaS, PaaS).

  • Implement and maintain security best practices and create/maintain architecture, configuration, and process documentation.

  • Establish and maintain monitoring and alerting systems for cloud and on-premise resources.

  • Optimize on-premise and cloud infrastructure for cost efficiency and performance.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to performance and availability.

  • Apply experience with scripting and programming for automation.

  • Demonstrate experience monitoring large enterprise production applications.

  • Apply experience troubleshooting production applications.

  • Demonstrate experience with performance tuning and fault finding.

  • Apply experience in design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.

Security Clearance Requirements: Active Secret (S) required. Candidates must already possess this clearance level upon applying.

Experience Requirements: 7+ years of documented experience in Information Systems Engineering, encompassing hardware and network design for large enterprise applications (including cloud), implementation of security best practices, and establishing monitoring and alerting systems. Candidates should also possess 7-9 years of experience in software development, scripting for automation, troubleshooting production applications, performance tuning, and providing technical consultation.

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related analytical, scientific, or technical discipline or equivalent.

Desired Skills / Qualifications: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Professional, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Security+ or higher-level security certifications . A deep expertise in managing and securing diverse operating systems, networks, and virtualization technologies, complemented by strong scripting and automation skills, and practical experience with cloud platforms. The ideal individual will also possess excellent troubleshooting abilities, a solid understanding of security and compliance, and the capacity to contribute to system accreditation while working effectively both independently and within a team.

Schedule: Day shift, Monday–Friday

Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long durations of time. Also, must be able to continuously operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
