Skilled Trades Recruiter (Travelling Workforce & Major Projects)

Job Description

Senior Skilled Trades Recruiter | Travelling Workforce & Major Projects

\n

\n

Arena Staffing is looking for the recruiter who knows what to do when a customer says:

\n

"We need 50 electricians in Michigan."

\n

\n

Not someone who posts the job and waits for applicants.

\n

\n

Someone who immediately asks: Where are the workers? Who employs them? Which projects are ending? Who will travel? What are they earning? What per diem will move them? Who already knows five other people we should be calling?

\n

\n

Arena Staffing is building the recruiting engine behind the next chapter of our Strategic Accounts & Major Projects business, and we are looking for an experienced skilled-trades recruiter who wants to help build it with us.

\n

\n

For nearly ten years, Arena has been Constructing Futures by helping contractors and businesses solve critical workforce challenges. We have built a strong skilled-trades staffing foundation throughout California, Arizona, and the Southwest, and we are now expanding across the United States.

\n

\n

Our team supports major projects including data centers, mission-critical construction, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, electrical and mechanical construction, energy, aerospace, and other large-scale industrial work.

\n

\n

The Skilled Trades Recruiter will partner directly with our Director of Strategic Accounts and Arena leadership to build the talent networks required to support these projects.

\n

Your job is simple to explain, but difficult to execute: Make sure Arena already knows the workers before our customers need them.

\n

\n

Why you will want this role:

\n

    \n
  • growth: Help expand an established skilled-trades staffing company into new markets and major projects across the United States.
  • \n

  • Build something: Help create the recruiting strategy, talent communities, processes, and systems behind Arena's Strategic Accounts platform.
  • \n

  • Recruit proactively: Build relationships with skilled tradespeople before requisitions open.
  • \n

  • Major project exposure: Recruit for data centers, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, electrical, mechanical, industrial, energy, aerospace, and other large projects.
  • \n

  • ownership: Develop talent pipelines across multiple trades, markets, and states.
  • \n

  • Leadership access: Work directly with Arena's Director of Strategic Accounts, ownership, and senior leadership.
  • \n

  • Technology and intelligence: Use sourcing technology, AI, market research, referrals, social channels, databases, and direct outreach.
  • \n

\n

\n

What you will own:

\n

    \n
  • Build pipelines of electricians, plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, welders, millwrights, carpenters, equipment operators, laborers, and other skilled craft professionals.
  • \n

  • Build relationships with qualified workers before active orders exist.
  • \n

  • Recruit traveling craft professionals willing to mobilize for the right project, compensation, schedule, location, and per diem.
  • \n

  • Source through direct outreach, phone calls, LinkedIn, job boards, databases, social media, industry groups, previous workers, referrals, and other creative channels.
  • \n

  • Build referral networks where one strong craft professional can lead Arena to several more.
  • \n

  • Develop reusable talent communities by trade, geography, certifications, project experience, compensation expectations, and willingness to travel.
  • \n

  • Research labor markets, contractors, wage conditions, per diem expectations, competing projects, and available labor surrounding major projects.
  • \n

  • Track where workers are located, which projects are ending or ramping, and where craft talent may be moving next.
  • \n

  • Partner with Sales on upcoming customers, workforce forecasts, project opportunities, and hiring ramps.
  • \n

  • Develop recruiting strategies before workforce needs become urgent.
  • \n

  • Recruit nationally when local labor markets cannot support project requirements.
  • \n

  • Coordinate candidate mobilization, onboarding, and deployment with Arena's operations team.
  • \n

  • Maintain relationships with workers throughout assignments and between projects, helping retain and redeploy top performers.
  • \n

  • Maintain organized recruiting pipelines, candidate records, travel preferences, availability, referrals, placements, and redeployment.
  • \n

\n

\n

Must-have requirements:

\n

    \n
  • Five or more years of recruiting, staffing, talent acquisition, workforce solutions, or closely related experience.
  • \n

  • Strong experience proactively sourcing candidates rather than depending primarily on inbound applicants.
  • \n

  • Experience recruiting skilled trades, construction labor, industrial talent, field technicians, craft professionals, or another difficult-to-find hourly workforce.
  • \n

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and engage candidates who may not be actively applying to jobs.
  • \n

  • Strong phone, sourcing, direct outreach, networking, and referral-development skills.
  • \n

  • Ability to build credibility and long-term relationships with blue-collar skilled tradespeople.
  • \n

  • Experience managing multiple candidate pipelines, projects, or workforce requirements simultaneously.
  • \n

  • Ability to explain specific sourcing strategies used to locate difficult-to-find talent.
  • \n

  • Strong organization, urgency, communication, follow-through, and candidate relationship management.
  • \n

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with sales, operations, leadership, and other recruiters.
  • \n

  • Comfort using recruiting technology, sourcing platforms, market intelligence, databases, and AI.
  • \n

  • A proactive ownership mentality rather than reliance on job postings or inbound applications.
  • \n

\n

\n

Nice-to-have requirements:

\n

    \n
  • Staffing-industry experience within skilled trades, construction, industrial, or project-based staffing.
  • \n

  • Experience recruiting traveling electricians, plumbers, pipefitters, welders, HVAC professionals, millwrights, carpenters, equipment operators, or other craft professionals.
  • \n

  • Experience supporting traveling workforce programs, per-diem assignments, workforce mobilization, or multi-state projects.
  • \n

  • Experience recruiting for data centers, mission-critical construction, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, electrical or mechanical construction, energy, or industrial facilities.
  • \n

  • Experience filling workforce ramps involving 20, 50, 100, or more workers.
  • \n

  • Existing relationships with traveling skilled tradespeople or established referral networks.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of prevailing wage, per diem, travel pay, workforce mobilization, or project-based compensation.
  • \n

\n

\n

The person we are looking for:

\n

We are not searching for someone who simply wants another recruiting desk. We want a recruiter who genuinely enjoys the hunt.

\n

\n

The strongest candidate understands that the best skilled-trades candidates are often found through relationships, referrals, direct outreach, credibility, persistence, and timing, not simply through job-board applications.

\n

\n

We would especially like to meet recruiters from skilled-trades staffing, construction staffing, industrial staffing, traveling craft programs, electrical or mechanical staffing, or project staffing environments.

\n

\n

We also care about more than the perfect resume. We want someone resourceful, organized, competitive, relationship-driven, and willing to figure out a market they may not already know.

\n

When a customer needs 50 workers in an unfamiliar city, this recruiter should not respond, "Nobody applied."

\n

\n

They should be figuring out who has the workers, where those workers may be going next, what projects are winding down, what will make someone travel, who knows somebody we should know, and how Arena can build the pipeline before everyone else starts recruiting.

\n

\n

Technology and AI should make a great recruiter better, but they do not replace relationships.

\n

Arena will provide the infrastructure, leadership access, technology, operational support, sales partnership, and established skilled-trades platform. You will bring the sourcing ability, creativity, relationships, organization, market intelligence, and recruiting discipline required to build the workforce behind our growth.

\n

\n

Location:

\n

This position may be performed remotely from anywhere within the United States.

\n

The selected individual should be comfortable recruiting across multiple markets, states, and time zones. Occasional travel may be required for company meetings, training, strategic planning, or industry events.

\n

\n

Compensation:

\n

Arena offers a base salary of $80,000 to $100,000, depending on experience, plus performance-based incentive compensation and benefits.

\n

\n

Compensation will reflect the selected candidate's skilled-trades staffing experience, project background, historical production, industry relationships, and ability to build qualified talent pipelines.

\n

\n

About Arena Staffing:

\n

Arena Staffing provides contract staffing, skilled-trades workforce solutions, and direct-hire recruiting services throughout the construction, architecture, engineering, manufacturing, and industrial sectors.

\n

\n

Our mission is Constructing Futures by helping businesses build stronger teams while creating meaningful career opportunities for the people and communities we serve.

\n

\n

For nearly a decade, Arena has built its skilled-trades business through relationships, service, and execution. We are now investing in a Strategic Accounts & Major Projects platform to support major customers and projects throughout the United States.

\n

\n

You will not simply receive job orders. You will help build the talent networks that allow Arena to confidently tell a customer:

\n

"Yes, we can support that project."

\n

\n

If you are a recruiter who believes the best candidates are usually found, not posted for, we would like to talk.
