Skilled Construction Installer / Trades Helper – Industrial Projects

Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Employment: Full time, on site
Current Project Assignment: Up to 12 months
Compensation: Competitive hourly pay based on relevant experience and demonstrated skills.

About the Opportunity

Koala Design & Build LLC is seeking dependable local installers and skilled trades helpers for a large industrial buildout in Phoenix. Our current work includes fire systems installation, but we welcome candidates with transferable experience in electrical, low voltage, mechanical installation, pipefitting, equipment installation, metal framing, or other specialized construction trades.

You will work under our Arizona Foreman and Superintendent, supporting installations that require accurate measurements, careful workmanship, and close attention to construction documents. This opportunity suits someone with a solid construction foundation who wants to develop technical skills and grow toward Lead Installer or Foreman responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned installation work within your skills and training, under field leadership’s direction.
  • Read basic plans, installation details, dimensions, and written instructions.
  • Measure, lay out, assemble, mount, and secure materials and components accurately.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and select appropriate tools for assigned tasks.
  • Assist with supports, hangers, raceways, piping, cabling, or equipment components as applicable to the assigned scope.
  • Follow approved construction documents and report conflicts before making changes.
  • Check completed work, correct deficiencies, and support inspections and punch-list completion.
  • Coordinate with crew members, protect completed installations, and maintain organized work areas.
  • Follow site safety procedures and communicate progress, material needs, and problems to the Foreman.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of relevant commercial or industrial construction experience in a skilled trade or installation role.
  • Demonstrated hands-on ability beyond general cleanup and material handling.
  • Ability to take accurate measurements, understand basic drawings, and follow a sequence of installation instructions.
  • Familiarity with construction tools, materials, and safe work practices.
  • Dependable attendance, clear communication, and willingness to accept direction and learn.
  • Currently based in the Phoenix metropolitan area with reliable transportation to the jobsite.
  • Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to meet applicable project-access requirements, including a background screening conducted in accordance with applicable law.

Direct fire systems experience is helpful but is not required for every opening. Candidates should clearly identify their strongest trade skills and the tasks they can perform independently.

Helpful Training and Experience

  • OSHA 10 Construction training; OSHA 30 is a plus.
  • Previous work on manufacturing, semiconductor, data center, warehouse, or other industrial projects.
  • Trade apprenticeship coursework, vocational training, or relevant trade credentials.
  • Experience with layout, conduit bending, pipe assembly, equipment setting, supports and hangers, or precision installation.
  • Scissor lift experience and documented operator training are a plus. Equipment operation requires appropriate training and employer authorization.
  • First Aid / CPR and relevant fall protection training.

Development Opportunity

Work directly with experienced field leadership and develop your technical installation, drawing-reading, quality-control, and crew-coordination skills. Strong performers may receive training and increased responsibility toward Lead Installer or Foreman duties, depending on performance and project needs.
