Target Salary Range*: $150,000 - 190,000
*This represents the potential salary range for this position depending on education level, years of experience and/or certifications in addition to other position specific requirements which may impact salary
Position Overview:
This Level III position requires at least 8 years of experience in the given technology areas. Key competencies include subject matter expertise and system administrator experience with Microsoft Windows OS, VMWare, Linux OS and Nutanix Technologies. Knowledge around the support of operations technology or control system environments is . The candidate should also be able to quickly understand and resolve issues, mitigate risks and analyze dependencies. Finally, this role must adhere to utility industry regulatory requirements and best practices, and guidelines to ensure real-time operation of specific Control Systems environments remains available 24/7.
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Manage and administer Windows (2008, 2012, 2016, and 2019) and Linux (RHEL 7.X, 8.X and 9.X) servers
- Support and manage server virtualization, server provisioning, physical server maintenance, security compliance and the daily operation of the control system environments
- Maintain the physical server lifecycle including provisioning, maintenance, and decommissioning of the hardware
- Maintain the virtualized server environment via configuration, implementation, management and support activities
- Maintain the VMware VDI environment via configuration, implementation, management and support activities
- Maintain security baseline compliance via configuration, implementation, and remediation activities; report on compliance via routine compliance and audit tasks
- Monitor the server infrastructure environment health status, service performance, and utilization; report on trends and anomalies
- Implement and maintain continuous compliance to information security policies, North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), and technical standards; report and provide remediation around non-compliances
- Apply regular security patches and software updates
- Provide tier-3 engineering support as well as business continuity support for control system infrastructure
- Collaborates with application, network, security and functional team that support Control System tools and applications
- Participates in on call Control System support rotation cycle
Technical Skill Requirement
- Core experience in Windows, Active Directory, VMware vSphere and vRealize Suite, vRealize Automation (vRA), vRealize Orchestrator (vRO), Horizon View administration, Nutanix, and Linux in a global and heterogeneous environment
- Good Understanding of Virtualization technology (Hyper-V and VMware)
- Good hands-on experience in diagnostics and troubleshooting of above-mentioned technologies and product suites
- Good understanding of highly available and disaster recovery environments
- Experience in performance tuning of VMware servers and Virtual sessions and management of server resources for both physical as well as between virtual machines
- Experience and expertise on Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, ADFS, Group Policies, and FTP & SFTP
- Ability to implement AD infrastructure. Proficient in doing Recovery of AD Domain Controllers, DNS, WINS, DHCP servers
- In-Depth knowledge of Domain Controller replication configurations
- Good Exposure to Group Policies creation, their testing and implementation
- Should have good knowledge and troubleshooting skills on MS clusters and load balancing
- Strong in file and print server management; knowledge in Windows Security
- Excellent in PowerShell scripting and task automation work with measurable outputs and operational efficiencies
- Overall knowledge and understanding of data center environments, physical hardware placements, racking, cabling, etc.
- Good at dealing with hardware and OEM vendors for support and troubleshooting purpose for hardware break fix and large platform/server upgrades/migration is required
- Good at dealing and coordinating with multiple teams and stakeholders within the support structure, in order to run daily operations smoothly
- Should have good working experience on RAID management and array controller
- Should have expertise in backup products and expertise in protocol suite and command line utilities
- Should have worked with OEM hardware (DELL/HP), and remote connectivity tools
- Proficiency in system fault tolerance design, business continuity and disaster recovery planning
