Technical Director - Electrical (Data Centres / Mission Critical) \nHybrid working model from a UK office (Manchester, London, Sunderland) \n\nWe are working with a growing, multi-disciplinary MEP consultancy that is expanding its Mission Critical capability across the UK and Europe. They are now seeking a senior Electrical Technical Director to lead, shape, and grow their Mission Critical offering, with a particular focus on data centre delivery.\n\nThis is a leadership role for an experienced electrical engineer with deep data centre design expertise, strong commercial awareness, and the credibility to operate at board and client level. The role combines technical leadership, team development, and strategic growth within a high-performing engineering environment.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLead and grow the Mission Critical electrical team, including capability development and headcount growth aligned to revenue\n\nAct as a senior technical authority across complex data centre projects from concept through detailed design\n\nOversee delivery to ensure client satisfaction, technical quality, and commercial performance\n\nProvide technical leadership across MV/LV distribution, substations, UPS, generators, and critical systems\n\nReview and sign off electrical designs and technical outputs across the portfolio\n\nSupport proposals, bids, and commercial negotiations\n\nRepresent the business at industry events, client meetings, and sector forums\n\nMentor and develop senior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of engineering excellence\n\nWork closely with the Board Director on strategy, business development, and client relationships\n\nReport on Mission Critical performance, risk, and growth to the board\n\nCandidate Profile\n\nDegree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering\n\nChartered Engineer with CIBSE, IET, or equivalent and Engineering Council registration\n\n10+ years experience delivering electrical design within the data centre or Mission Critical sector\n\nStrong understanding of redundancy, resilience, and data centre tiering systems\n\nExperience across hyperscale, colocation, and edge data centre environments\n\nProven background in UK consultancy environments\n\nCommercially astute with experience managing budgets, fees, and project risk\n\nConfident communicator with the presence to operate at senior client and board level\n\nThis is an opportunity to take a genuine leadership role in a growing Mission Critical business, with influence over technical direction, team growth, and sector strategy.
