Technical Trainer

Job Description

Technical Trainer |£35,000 - £38,000 | Cardiff or Swansea (Hybrid) | Permanent

A well-established, award-recognised digital training provider in Wales is looking for a Digital Infrastructure Trainer to join their team on a permanent basis — bringing delivery experience, technical credibility, and the ability to support and lead a small team of trainers.

This isn't a pure delivery role. Alongside managing your own caseload of apprentices on Digital Infrastructure programmes, you'll take responsibility for two permanent trainers and act as a point of contact and quality support for a pool of freelance trainers. If you're someone who enjoys mentoring others as much as you do working with learners, this is a role worth looking at.

The provider is Welsh Government-funded, delivers primarily to Welsh employers, and is consistently recognised as one of the top-performing providers in their consortium. Clients include household-name organisations across the private and public sectors.

The role:

  • Delivering the Digital Infrastructure apprenticeship standard to a managed caseload of learners
  • Coaching and supporting learners through progress reviews, assessments, and EPA readiness
  • Line managing two permanent trainers — supporting their development, delivery quality, and caseload
  • Acting as a lead contact for freelance trainers on the Digital Infrastructure programme
  • Contributing to quality assurance and standardisation activity
  • Working hybrid: 1–2 days per week from their Cardiff or Swansea office

We're looking for:

  • Demonstrable experience delivering Digital Infrastructure training or apprenticeships (L3 standard ideally)
  • A background in networking, systems support, or infrastructure — you need to know the subject
  • TAQA / CAVA qualified, or solid experience in apprenticeship delivery with willingness to work towards it
  • Some experience of supervising, mentoring, or leading other trainers — even informally
  • Comfortable working across two sites and managing a hybrid schedule

What's on offer:

  • Permanent role with a growing, well-regarded Welsh provider
  • Hybrid working — 1–2 days per week Cardiff or Swansea, rest remote
  • A genuine team lead component — not just a delivery-only position
  • Stable, Welsh Government-funded programmes with a strong employer client base
