We are looking for a Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, Government and Community Affairs to join our growing team. This position is a mid-level role responsible for shaping the external environment to support NorthPoint Development’s strategic objectives. This leader will assist in design and execution of comprehensive strategies across government relations, incentives negotiations, community relations and outreach. The position requires a seasoned professional who can operate at the intersection of business, government, and the community, ensuring the company’s reputation is protected and its development pipeline is advanced. This role will serve as a key public voice for the company and an advisor to development teams on all matters of governmental and political significance for industrial and data center development.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement an integrated public affairs and government relations strategy that aligns with NorthPoint’s long-term business goals. Anticipate emerging political, social, and economic trends and position the company to navigate associated risks and opportunities.
  • Manage a portfolio of high-level relationships within state executive and legislative branches, mayors, and key administrative officials in core and expansion markets. Serve as the company’s lead ambassador in obtaining governmental permits and approvals for real estate development projects.
  • Coordinate outside counsel and consultants to negotiate key economic development incentives within a specified region. Lead negotiations for transformative public-private partnerships and develop innovative, scalable incentive strategies that provide a competitive advantage in site selection.
  • Develop and implement sophisticated and communications strategies to support project entitlements and manage corporate reputation.
  • Design and lead a proactive community and stakeholder engagement strategy to build coalitions of support, foster long-term goodwill, and ensure NorthPoint is regarded as a premier community partner.
  • Support and mentor development team members. Serve as a key member of project leadership teams, providing critical counsel and strategic guidance on market entry, political risk, and major development pursuits.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required. An advanced degree (e.g., JD, MBA, MPA) is highly .
  • 5-10 years of experience in corporate affairs, government relations, economic development, or community relations, with a significant portion of that time spent in or directly engaging with government and elected officials.
  • Demonstrated ability to command a room and advise and influence executives and elected officials. Strong public speaking, communication and negotiation skills.
  • A clear history of successfully leading complex legislative campaigns, securing significant economic incentive packages, and managing high-profile public communication challenges.
  • A strong ability to think critically and strategically, connecting disparate information to create a cohesive plan and drive business outcomes. Deep understanding of political, legislative, and regulatory processes.
  • Proven experience in building, managing, and inspiring high-performing teams. A reputation as a collaborative and results-oriented leader.
