Account Manager

A leading provider of Data Centre Solutions is seeking an experienced Account Manager to oversee the operational delivery of critical environment services across a portfolio of data centres. This role is responsible for ensuring 24/7/365 reliability and availability of business-critical equipment while driving service excellence, financial performance, and client satisfaction.

 

The Role

Reporting to the Account Director, the Account Manager will lead the on-site operations team and manage subcontractor performance to deliver against contractual and financial commitments. The role requires proven leadership in critical environments, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to build trusted client relationships. The successful candidate will oversee people management, maintenance and repair activities, financial control, and compliance with health, safety, and statutory requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure 100% availability of critical equipment and infrastructure across the data centre portfolio.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for operational delivery.
  • Lead and develop the on-site operations team, fostering a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Deliver against all contractual KPIs and SLAs, ensuring effective reporting and governance.
  • Manage financial performance, including budgets, forecasting, billing, purchase orders, and headcount tracking.
  • Oversee maintenance planning, subcontractor management, and performance monitoring.
  • Support consistency across sites by aligning operational practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental policies, as well as statutory and audit requirements.
  • Lead escalation and resolution of critical incidents, supporting business continuity planning where required.
  • Provide training, coaching, and career development opportunities for team members, including succession planning.

 

Candidate Profile

  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in Electrical, Mechanical, or IT Engineering.
  • Proven management experience within a critical environment, ideally in data centre operations.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, including UPS, generators, transformers, chillers, switchgear, AHUs, fire detection and suppression systems.
  • Experience in health & safety risk assessments, statutory compliance, and safe systems of work.
  • Demonstrable experience managing teams, subcontractors, and vendor relationships.
  • Strong financial and commercial management skills, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and P&L responsibility.
  • Skilled communicator with excellent client-facing and interpersonal abilities.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and capable of managing complex operations under pressure.
