We are seeking a commercially driven and technically credible Business Development Manager - Data Centre to lead growth across the UK & Ireland data centre sector. This is a strategic role focused on developing market presence, influencing specifications, and securing major project opportunities within a rapidly expanding industry.\n\nThe Role\n You will play a pivotal role in shaping market strategy, building strong industry relationships, and driving project success from early design engagement through to delivery. Working cross-functionally, you will ensure alignment between commercial strategy, technical solutions, and operational execution.\n\n Market & Strategy\n\nAnalyse and map the UK & Ireland data centre landscape, identifying high-growth opportunities.\nMonitor market trends and competitor activity to inform targeted business development strategies.Technical & Specification Leadership\n\nEngage early with consultants, engineers, contractors, and key stakeholders to influence design and specification decisions.\nProvide technically robust solutions including value engineering, system selection, and compliance guidance.\nDeliver technical presentations and CPD sessions to build credibility and strengthen relationships.Commercial Ownership\n\nDevelop and lead pricing strategies for projects and framework agreements.\nNegotiate effectively to balance competitiveness with margin protection.\nEnsure proposals are aligned with client requirements and regional delivery models.Execution & Collaboration\n\nWork closely with internal teams (sales, projects, operations) to support forecasting and delivery planning.\nMaintain accurate CRM records and pipeline visibility.\nCommunicate key updates, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders.About You\n\nProven experience in sales or business development within the data centre ecosystem (hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise).\nStrong track record of influencing specifications and converting opportunities into secured projects.\nBackground in engineering or technical solutions sales, with the ability to engage in design-level discussions.\nExperience working with contractors, MEP specialists, and distribution networks.\nCommercially astute, with strong negotiation and pricing experience.\nSkilled communicator, confident presenting to both technical and commercial audiences.\nWillingness to travel across the UK & Ireland as required.At Gleeson Recruitment Group, we embrace inclusivity and welcome applicants of all backgrounds, experiences, and abilities.
