Business Development Manager – Mission Critical & Data Centers
Territory: Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern US
Summary
We are seeking a high-impact Business Development Manager to lead growth and market penetration within the data center and mission-critical infrastructure markets. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of technical expertise and strategic sales, positioning our firm as the partner of choice. You will be responsible for the full sales cycle—from early-stage prospecting to closing high-value design and construction contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Market Expansion: Develop and execute a targeted go-to-market plan for mission-critical construction and design-build services.
- Pipeline : Proactively "hunt" for new business by networking with owners, developers, and general contractors before projects hit the public tender stage.
- Consultative Solution Selling: Translate complex technical requirements (power, cooling, redundancy, and resiliency) into compelling value propositions that reduce operational risk for clients.
- Proposals: Lead the pursuit of large-scale, long-cycle projects, coordinating with internal engineering and pre-construction teams to deliver accurate RFQ/RFP responses.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain C-suite and executive-level relationships across key accounts to drive long-term loyalty and repeat business.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor competitor performance, industry trends (e.g., AI-driven load growth), and regional developments to refine the firm's competitive edge.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5–10 years of proven B2B sales experience, with at least 3–5 years specifically selling in the data center or mission-critical infrastructure sector.
- Proven Track Record: A documented history of meeting or exceeding sales targets for high-value, complex projects.
- Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of data center environments, including MEP systems, redundancy concepts (N+1, 2N), and uptime requirements.
- Communication: Exceptional ability to influence executive-level decision-making and command a room during presentations.
- Travel: Willingness to travel extensively (estimated 50%+) for client meetings, site visits, and industry conferences.
