Cost Manager

Our client, a global leader in digital infrastructure, is seeking an experienced Cost Manager to oversee cost planning, budgeting, and contract administration for major data centre projects across the Asia-Pacific region. This role is critical in ensuring financial discipline throughout the project lifecycle, safeguarding profitability, and enabling the successful delivery of complex, mission-critical facilities.

 

The Role

The Cost Manager will take ownership of project cost management from estimation through to completion. This includes developing accurate budgets, monitoring financial performance, managing cost variances, and overseeing contract administration. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with design, procurement, and construction teams, providing detailed analysis and recommendations to support informed decision-making and project optimisation.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates and budgets for large-scale data centre construction projects.
  • Monitor project costs, analyse variances, and implement corrective measures.
  • Manage contract administration, including claims, variations, and negotiations.
  • Conduct financial modelling, feasibility studies, and risk assessments.
  • Provide regular reporting on budget forecasts, cost variances, and cash flow.
  • Advise project teams on cost drivers, trends, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and financial regulations.

 

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in cost management, quantity surveying, or project controls within construction, industrial, or data centre projects.
  • Strong knowledge of cost control principles, estimating techniques, and financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with international or Asia-Pacific projects preferred.
  • Proficiency in cost management tools (e.g., CostX, RSMeans, Primavera, Excel); SAP experience advantageous.
  • Professional certification (e.g., RICS) preferred.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver in fast-paced environments.
  • Willingness to be based in Johor Bahru.
