Environmental Manager

Our client, a leading multinational in the data centre and critical infrastructure sector, is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to lead environmental protection and sustainability initiatives across designated sites. This role is integral to ensuring compliance with corporate standards, local regulations, and international best practices, while embedding a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout project delivery.

 

The Role

The Environmental Manager will be accountable for developing and implementing environmental management strategies, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring zero environmental incidents across major construction and operational activities. Working closely with contractors, consultants, regulatory authorities, and corporate stakeholders, this individual will play a key role in safeguarding compliance, enhancing sustainability performance, and supporting the organisation’s growth in a highly regulated sector.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental management strategies to ensure compliance and promote best practices.
  • Oversee EHS teams from contractors and consultants to ensure successful delivery of project requirements.
  • Develop and implement guidelines, systems, and policies aligned with corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain and investigate records of environmental incidents, implementing corrective actions.
  • Manage emergency response planning for environmental incidents across construction sites.
  • Prepare monitoring reports, performance analyses, and improvement updates for stakeholders and regulators.
  • Liaise with relevant authorities to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
  • Deliver training, workshops, and KPI reporting to foster an environmentally responsible culture.
  • Research and recommend new technologies and initiatives to strengthen sustainability efforts.

 

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or Environmental Science.
  • Certified Environmental Professional (e.g., CEPSWAM, CISESC, CESSWI, CEPOEIA) required.
  • Additional EHS certifications (e.g., Green Book, IOSH, NEBOSH, CSP) advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Environmental Officer.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS management systems and ISO standards.
  • Proficiency in environmental monitoring equipment and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia essential.
  • Immediate availability or short notice period preferred.
