Electrical Lead Engineer – Facilities Management / Building Services

Location: Liverpool Street

Salary: £47,000 - £52,000 + benefits

Hours: Monday to Friday - 8:00am – 5:00pm

Contract Type: Permanent / Full-time

About the Role

A leading services provider has approached Skilled Careers to assist with looking for a Electrical Lead Engineer to take responsibility for the day-to-day technical leadership of a busy commercial site.

You’ll oversee a team of multi-skilled engineers, ensuring all electrical maintenance, compliance, and project works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This is a hands-on role, combining technical expertise with strong leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, supervise, and support a team of site-based engineers and subcontractors

Oversee planned and reactive electrical maintenance, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and client KPIs

Carry out fault-finding, testing, and repairs on electrical systems (lighting, power, switchgear, emergency systems, etc.)

Ensure all documentation, permits, and safety records are completed accurately and on time

Manage workload planning, resource allocation, and performance monitoring

Liaise with clients and FM management to maintain strong relationships and service delivery

Identify and implement opportunities for energy efficiency, asset improvement, and system upgrades

Qualifications & Experience

Recognised Electrical qualification (City & Guilds Level 3 / NVQ or equivalent)

18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671)

Experience in commercial or critical building services environments (FM, data centres, healthcare, etc.)

Previous experience in a supervisory or lead engineer position

Excellent understanding of PPM, compliance, and health & safety processes

Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills

Testing & Inspection qualification (2391 or equivalent) desirable
