The Okonite Company in Orangeburg, SC is an employee-owned Manufacturer of medium voltage wire and cable products, has an immediate opening for a highly experienced Maintenance Mechanic in our fast-paced, 24/7 plant locations.
JOB SUMMARY:
Successful candidates will have a proven ability to provide maintenance support to both the Okonite Cable and the Compound Manufacturing Plants, so a thorough understanding of mechanical concepts in an industrial manufacturing environment is required. This understanding must translate into minimizing downtime required to repair plant equipment while recommending/implementing needed changes for the future state. This individual must be capable of making precise measurements in order to rebuild/repair machinery as well as install new equipment to specification. This position is a critical to the maintenance department to provide timely and safe repairs on equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Troubleshoot/Repair machinery
· Knowledgeable of Preventive and Predictive Maintenance
· Input/Retrieve data/reports from our Computerized Maintenance Management System
· Support capital projects/expansions where needed
· 6S – with an emphasis on safe work
· May be called upon to fill in for supervision
· May be called upon to work weekends or shifts
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Machining
· Welding – repairs and light fabrication
· Pipefitting/plumbing
· Rigging
· Motor/pump alignment using dial gages as well as lasers
· Ability to use a boroscope for alignment
· Ability to read mechanical prints
· Knowledgeable of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
· Dependable
· Good verbal and written communication skills.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
· 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
· A two year degree in Maintenance Industrial Technology.
· A passing grade on an Okonite general mechanical aptitude test.
