About the Role

The Maintenance & Machining Supervisor contributes to the success of the plant by providing day-to-day maintenance leadership and technical support to the Maintenance and Machine shop crews. In this role, you will lead a team of frontline employees within the maintenance department (mechanics/machinists).

What You’ll Do

  • Ensure equipment reliability to maximize line productivity
  • Identify gaps in team knowledge and skills and implement controls to track, and improve maintenance and technician capability
  • Track standard maintenance metrics and prioritize plant maintenance opportunities; accordingly, MTBF, MTTR, PM completion, corrective work completion
  • Ensure proper utilization of Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Develop a team to oversee day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals
  • Communicates maintenance plans and status across department lines and collaborates cross-functionally to assist team to solve maintenance issues and gather resources for support
  • Builds team capability through effective employee relations, hiring, training, and communication for front-line hourly personnel
  • Motivate team members to achieve plan goals and drive performance through KPIs and team evaluations
  • Hands-on proficiency in a machine shop with manual lathes/mills, band saws, drill presses, surface grinders, and basic CNC ops (drafting/ design, setup, offsets, wear tools, workholding, and programming).
  • Administer policies and procedures
  • Prioritizes day-to-day work requests and coordinates with the Planner to adjust as needed
  • This role requires regular presence on the plant floor, lifting to 50 lbs. occasionally, may operate forklift and manufacturing equipment occasionally
  • Occasional work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
  • Serves as the technical expert, coach, and resource for maintenance personnel and understands and follows established safety guidelines, programs, and procedures; and actively works to prevent safety incidents.
  • Supports all established plant and manufacturing goals and objectives. Apprises manager of team progress and any obstacles
  • This role will require off-shift and some weekend work
  • Some travel (less than 5%)

Additional Expectations

  • Remain compliant with the Code of Conduct and Policies which includes the Kingspan Group Compliance Policy.
  • Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations, and market demands.
  • Responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of the Compliance Management System.
  • Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, or any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree, US military service, or equivalent experience required. Preferably in Engineering, Maintenance, Hydraulics, Machining, Electrical trades, or similar fields
  • Supervision experience supporting maintenance or operations (3 years)
  • Experience in preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance (5 years)
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to get and sustain results, build a team, coach, and mentor others
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to provide technical leadership
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting methodology
  • Ability to build relationships and work cross-functionally
  • Ability to communicate technical and operational issues clearly and concisely
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload

  • Ability to work in accordance with safety, quality and sanitation standards, policies and procedures

  • Ability to read/interpret prints, set tolerances, and select/verify tooling.

Competency

  • Previous experience working in a technical field, mechanical, electrical, or engineering strongly
  • Be a change agent in moving the Maintenance organization to a proactive status
  • Ability to bring about order – from chaos
  • Achieving expected results without close supervision while delivering on identified scope, time, and budget.
  • Mechanical experience maintaining equipment
  • Understanding of PLC programming and ladder logic
  • NIMS or equivalent machining certifications; exposure to basic G-code edits and CAM (Fusion/Mastercam) for simple ops.
