Job Title: Network Administrator I
Location: Hillsboro OR
97124Duration: 2 months Contract-to-Hire
Pay rate: $18.00/hr on w2 without benefits.
Responsibilities
Provide Smart Hands support for incidents and service requests under the guidance of remote Level 2/3 teams.
Support racking, stacking, connecting, and basic configuration of networking and server equipment.
Install hardware, patch cables, and enable new services in coordination with remote support teams.
Perform console access for remote configuration and test connectivity after installation.
Support rack and stack installations, cable management, and installation of copper and fiber patch leads.
Receive and validate incoming hardware shipments; process purchase orders for accuracy.
Unbox, stage, and install equipment; recycle packaging and manage e-waste properly.
Install or retrofit server racks including rail and shelving installation.
Label, scan, and document installed devices for inventory accuracy.
Assist with shipping and receiving of equipment as needed.
Escort vendors and technicians as required.
Manage tasks assigned via ServiceNow or other ticketing systems.
Requirements
2+ years of experience in networking or data center environments (racking, stacking, cabling, and basic configuration).
Ability to troubleshoot and replace hardware or cabling during incident resolution.
Strong hands-on skills with structured cabling (copper/fiber).
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs., climb ladders, and work in hot aisle environments for short periods.
Willingness to walk, sit, stand, crawl, or kneel for extended periods.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a small team.
Strong communication skills and customer service focus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Valid driver's license and ability to travel between buildings as needed.
Qualifications
Experience with structured network cabling: Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, RJ45, ST, SC, LC connectors.
Fiber cabling: multimode, single mode.
Experience with Wi-Fi hardware (WLAN controllers, wireless access points).
Understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, Layer 2 VLANs).
Experience with Ethernet switching hardware (chassis, supervisor modules, line cards, power supplies).
Knowledge of transceiver types (SX, LX, SR, LR).
Experience with cable testing tools (Fluke testers, OTDR, AirCheck).
