Direct Counsel is seeking a Real Estate Construction Associate to join a leading Am Law 200 firm in its Century City or Orange County office. This role offers the opportunity to work with a highly regarded real estate team on sophisticated construction-related transactions and development matters.
Key Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate construction-related agreements, including:

Architect and design contracts

Engineering and consulting agreements
-
Construction contracts and licenses
-
Easements, development management, and project management agreements
-

Collaborate closely with clients, developers, project managers, and internal teams
-
Provide guidance on risk mitigation and legal compliance in development projects
-
Support broader real estate transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, and financing as needed

Conduct title and survey review and general due diligence

Contribute to team development through mentorship and collaboration
Qualifications
-
J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
-
3–4 years of relevant experience in construction and development transactions
-
Familiarity with data center leasing is a plus, but not required
-
Experience in a major law firm environment strongly

Admission to the California Bar

Strong writing, analytical, and organizational skills

Self-starter capable of managing significant individual responsibilities while working collaboratively
Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $225,000 – $250,000, commensurate with experience
