Direct Counsel is seeking a Real Estate Construction Associate to join a leading Am Law 200 firm in its Century City or Orange County office. This role offers the opportunity to work with a highly regarded real estate team on sophisticated construction-related transactions and development matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction-related agreements, including:

    • Architect and design contracts

    • Engineering and consulting agreements

    • Construction contracts and licenses

    • Easements, development management, and project management agreements

  • Collaborate closely with clients, developers, project managers, and internal teams

  • Provide guidance on risk mitigation and legal compliance in development projects

  • Support broader real estate transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, and financing as needed

  • Conduct title and survey review and general due diligence

  • Contribute to team development through mentorship and collaboration

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials

  • 3–4 years of relevant experience in construction and development transactions

  • Familiarity with data center leasing is a plus, but not required

  • Experience in a major law firm environment strongly

  • Admission to the California Bar

  • Strong writing, analytical, and organizational skills

  • Self-starter capable of managing significant individual responsibilities while working collaboratively

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $225,000 – $250,000, commensurate with experience
