Senior Chiller Service Engineer (Manufacturer – £55,000 to £60,000 + Benefits) - OTE £70K+\n\nLocation: UK (Nationwide Travel)\nEmployer: Leading Chiller Manufacturer\nSalary: £55,000–£60,000 + Overtime + Vehicle + Factory Training (Europe) + Door to Door Paid Travel  = OTE £70K+\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are a specialist chiller manufacturer seeking an experienced Senior Chiller Service Engineer to join our nationwide technical and commissioning team.\nThis is a high‑level technical role requiring deep knowledge of large tonnage chillers, advanced compressor technologies, and strong electrical diagnostic capability.\n\nYou will represent the manufacturer directly, attending customer sites across the UK (and occasionally Europe) to carry out:\nMajor breakdown diagnosis\nAdvanced electrical & refrigeration fault‑finding\nCompressor work (screw, scroll, Turbocore)\nCommissioning & performance validation\nWarranty support and technical investigations\n\nThis position is suited to a confident engineer who can walk into a plantroom independently and take ownership of complex chiller issues.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nChiller Service & Breakdown Response\n\nDiagnose and repair faults on screw, scroll and Turbocore chillers.\nAttend major breakdowns independently and restore plant operation safely.\nCarry out full refrigeration diagnostics including superheat, subcooling, oil management and system pressures.\nPerform compressor replacements, inverter/VSD troubleshooting, and control system resets.\n\nCommissioning & Performance Validation\n\nComplete full commissioning procedures including:\n\nNitrogen pressure testing\nDeep vacuum procedures\nRefrigerant charging\nFlow, ΔT, and load validation\nSensor, control and safety verification\n\nProduce commissioning and performance reports to manufacturer standards.\n\nElectrical & Controls Work\n\nFault‑find electrical systems including contactors, sensors, inverters, VFDs/VSDs and control boards.\nDiagnose BMS communication issues and interface faults.\nRead wiring diagrams and follow sequence‑of‑operation documentation.\n\nCustomer & Manufacturer Representation\n\nAct as the technical face of the manufacturer on site.\nProvide clear and professional communication with clients, consultants and end‑users.\nSupport warranty investigations and produce detailed technical reports.\nMaintain exceptional standards of presentation, documentation and compliance.\n\nEssential Experience & Technical Requirements\n\nChiller Experience\n\nExperience with air‑cooled and water‑cooled chillers above 100 kW.\nHands‑on work with screw chillers, scroll chillers, and ideally centrifugal systems.\nExperience working with leading OEMs such as:\nTrane, Carrier, York, Daikin, Airedale, Blue Box.\n\nCompressor Knowledge\n\nScrew compressor rebuilds, slide valve issues, capacity control diagnostics.\nScroll replacements and fault diagnosis.\nPreferably experience with Turbocore magnetic bearing compressors.\n\nElectrical Competence\n\nStrong ability to diagnose:\n\nVSD/VFD faults\nSensor failures\nControl logic issues\nBoard/PCB faults\n\nAbility to work safely on 3‑phase systems.\n\nRefrigeration Technical Depth\n\nRefrigeration cycle understanding beyond installation-level knowledge.\nExperienced in diagnosing oil return issues, floodback, non-condensables, high pressure trips etc.\nCompetent in R410A, R134a, R32, hydrocarbon refrigerants .\n\nControls & BMS\n\nUnderstanding of BMS input/output signals, setpoints, alarms and control integration.\nExperience identifying BMS-related performance or communication issues.\n\nCertifications\n\nF-Gas Category 1 (essential)\nNVQ Level 3 Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (or equivalent)\nCity & Guilds 2079\n17th/18th Edition (highly desirable)\n\nWork Environment\n\nComfortable working independently on large critical plantrooms (hospitals, data centres, commercial buildings).\nWillingness to travel nationwide and attend occasional European factory training.\nAbility to participate in standby rota.\n\nWhat We Offer\n\n£55,000–£60,000 basic salary - OTE £70K+\nDoor to Door travel paid\nFully expensed manufacturer vehicle\nSpecialist tools and equipment\nMobile, laptop and uniform\nFull European factory training\n20 days holiday + bank holidays\nProgression into commissioning, warranty, or technical support roles\n\nIdeal Candidate Summary\n\nWe are looking for someone who can:\n\nDiagnose a 400 kW screw chiller alone\nStrip and rebuild compressors\nTroubleshoot VSDs and control systems\nCommission chillers to factory standard\nWork across multi-brand chillers\nRepresent the manufacturer professionally\nTravel nationwide & Europe when required\n\nIf you have significant chiller experience, strong electrical depth, and confidence working on large tonnage plant, we want to hear from you.\n\n‘INDLON’ INDLON\n\nWe act as an Employment Agency/Business with regards to this vacancy.
